Description:

The Director for Accounting, Data Analytics and Business Intelligence for the School of Medicine (SOM) leads the integration of financial and budget management and enterprise analytics by overseeing financial tools, reconciliation, compliance, and budget reporting while driving a comprehensive finance data strategy.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The position develops and manages financial analytics, reporting, and business intelligence platforms, establishes strong data governance, and ensures data quality across systems.
  • Through close collaboration with senior leadership, consultants, and cross functional teams, delivers budget and financial data driven insights, designs impactful dashboards, applies advanced analytical techniques, and supports organizational change and strategic planning initiatives.
  • Provides recommendations for data strategy, collaborates with stakeholders, and advises executive leadership to advance budget and financial insights.
  • Provides data-driven insights to inform decision-making and long-term planning.
  • Manages financial tools and oversees data integration and reconciliation processes and process flows between systems.
  • Creates and manages budget and financial data analytics, reporting, and decision support tools.
  • Leads, designs and maintains financial dashboards and BI platforms.
  • Ensures data quality and supports strategic planning including supporting continuity and consistency across departmental reporting -
  • Has oversight for SOM financial templates and reports, including budget reporting, FTE, faculty compensation and forecasts.
  • Reports to the CFO for the SOM.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams, designs dashboards, and analyzes data, as assigned.
  • Manages relationships with consultants, and implements new initiatives as related to SOM and departmental finance requirements.
  • Applies statistical techniques, explores datasets, and supports organizational change.
  • Fosters a culture of continuous improvement in data-driven decision-making processes and bridges the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders. 
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, analytics, statistics, computer science or related field and seven years of experience in data analytics, finance, or a related field, which includes experience in a management role.
  • A master's degree and experience in an academic environment preferred.
  • Proficiency in SQL and other programming languages is desirable.

 

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs.  Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
