Job Description

SUMMARY: The Director FP&A Technology leads the technology finance team in the execution of the management of K12 corporate finance activities.

  • Serve as a strategic finance partner to Technology Senior Management

  • Translate financial results into operational insights and recommended actions

  • Assist in the direction of the financial management as it relates to enterprise roadmaps and staffing

  • Lead monthly and quarterly close processes for technology organization

  • Support executive decision-making through financial modeling and tradeoff analysis

  • Quantify impacts of investment changes, and cost reduction initiatives

  • Define and track key performance indicators and unit economics for technology investment spend

  • Develop metrics for return on investment and business outcomes for enterprise investments

  • Oversee the risk analysis and management process;

  • Translate product and technology roadmaps into long range financial plans

  • Partner with technology leadership to assess financial impact of roadmap changes, timing shifts, and prioritization decisions

  • Support investment decisions, including new product development, enhancements, and system decommission roadmaps

  • Monitor workforce hiring progress, attrition, and capacity constraints; provide actionable insights to leadership

  • Lead business case analyses to evaluate build vs. buy vs. outsource decisions

  • Track utilization and optimizing licensing costs in partnership with procurement and technology

  • Oversee and manage the work and activities of all technology finance staff;

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing FP&A team supporting technology functions

  • Ensure alignment with accounting policies and audit requirements

  • Partner with accounting to ensure proper treatment of software development costs (CapEx, SaaS deferred, OpEx)

  • Monthly forecast capitalization and amortization impacts

  • Support vendor negotiations and contract renewal planning

Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises 3 - 8 Full-time Equivalent (FTE) regular employees and/or contractors.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Ten (10) years of public accounting and financial reporting and analysis experience AND

  • Three (3) years of experience managing people OR

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Certificates and Licenses: None required.

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIOS: 

  • Understanding of accounting processes, procedures and internal controls

  • Strong research and analysis skills

  • Able to work well as part of a team cross functionally

  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills

  • Customer service orientation

  • Possess very good communication skills - written and verbal

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word

  • Ability to travel 10% of the time

  • Ability to clear required background check

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Advanced degree in related field

  • Experience with Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: Stride, Inc. considers a person's education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position's work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value when determining a new employee's salary level.  Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position's level and expected contribution, and the employee's benefits elections.  Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range. 

We anticipate the salary range to be $154,241.00 - $205,655.0. Eligible employees may receive a bonus.  This salary is not guaranteed, as an individual's compensation can vary based on several factors.  These factors include, but are not limited to, geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions. Stride offers a robust benefits package for eligible employees that can include health benefits, retirement contributions, and paid time off.
