Job Summary:
The Director, Learning & Organizational Development (L&OD), reporting directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer, will lead the design and execution of Baylor Genetics’ learning, leadership development, workforce management, and organizational effectiveness strategies. This role is critical to building a high-performance culture, strengthening leadership capabilities, and supporting the organization through transformation and growth. The Director, L&OD will also oversee the identification of key competencies, assess competency deltas across the organization, and drive workforce planning strategies to ensure Baylor Genetics’ talent is future-ready. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in learning design, talent development, organizational diagnostics, and change management, with the ability to align L&OD initiatives with business priorities and culture.

Education and Experience:

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Development, Human Resources, Psychology, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Certification in leadership assessments, facilitation, or coaching (e.g., DiSC, MBTI, Hogan, Prosci) is a plus.

Experience:
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in learning and organizational development, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in a high-growth, life sciences, biotech, or healthcare setting strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develops and leads the enterprise-wide learning, leadership development, and organizational development strategy to support current and future business needs.
  • Partners with leaders and HR Business Partners (HRBPs) to assess competency needs, identify competency gaps (deltas), and build targeted learning and development solutions.
  • Designs and implements leadership development programs at all levels, including early career, emerging leader, and executive development pathways.
  • Oversees competency frameworks and aligns employee development programs to identified organizational competencies.
  • Leads organizational effectiveness initiatives, including team effectiveness, culture building, and change management efforts.
  • Develops and manages workforce management strategies in collaboration with HR and business leaders, supporting succession planning, role readiness, and future workforce needs.
  • Oversees employee development frameworks, learning technologies, content delivery, and measurement of learning impact.
  • Partners with internal stakeholders to embed learning and development into performance management, talent reviews, succession planning, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Collaborates with external vendors and learning platforms to ensure the scalability and innovation of development programs.
  • Develops and delivers training programs, workshops, and capability-building sessions as needed.
  • Prepares learning and workforce analytics reports to evaluate the effectiveness of programs and inform continuous improvement.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to Code of Conduct as outlined in the Baylor Genetics Compliance Program.

Skills and Competencies:
  • Proven ability to develop and implement enterprise-wide learning and OD strategies.
  • Deep understanding of adult learning theory, leadership development, and organizational psychology.
  • Excellent facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Strong strategic thinking with the ability to execute and scale programs.
  • Demonstrated success in driving cultural and organizational change.
  • Ability to influence at all levels and work effectively across functions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (especially PowerPoint and Excel); experience with learning management systems (LMS) and collaboration tools preferred.
 
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • Frequently required to sit, talk, or hear.
  • Regular use of computer and office equipment.
