Job Summary/Basic Functions
The University of Mary Washington has an exciting opportunity to join our team as the Director of Advising Center. In this role you will direct and provide academic advising services for all Education students including undergraduate students, transfer students, and post baccalaureate students; provide support for faculty academic advisors in Education; provide support for admissions and recruitment efforts in Education.

Required KSAs/Competencies/Qualifications
Knowledge of fundamentals of academic advising for traditional undergraduate students, transfer students, and adult/non-traditional students.General knowledge of Education academic programs and requirements including admissions, continuance, graduation and state license requirements.Ability to work with other offices of the University including Admissions, Academic Services, and other UMW Colleges and departments.Ability to use University enterprise systems including Banner.
 
Required Experience: Experience in academic advising both traditional undergraduates, transfer, and non-traditional adult students. Required Education: Master's degree

Additional Considerations:KSAs Specific knowledge of all Education degree programs.Knowledge of programs in the Community College system of Virginia and ability to advise transfer students into Education.Knowledge of the undergraduate and graduate admissions processes and ability to support admissions staff in student recruitment. Knowledge of Banner and Slate admissions system.

Experience
Experience with the UMW Education degree programs or another EPP (education preparation program).Experience with UMW admissions processes, both undergraduate and graduate.Experience working with the Virginia Community College system.Experience with diverse student populations.
