Time: While the standard hours for this role are 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., these hours may be subject to change based on seasonal demand or operational requirements.

Salary Range: $74,500 – $82,810 is the hiring salary range (i.e. the range a candidate would be offered to start). Please note: OneGoal aligns salaries to Cost of Labor, so the actual salary offered would be dependent on the Cost of Labor in the candidate’s living location.

The Person
The Director of Communications’ mission is to build and execute an org-wide communications and PR strategy to increase our brand awareness, strengthen our brand authority, support our partnership and growth goals. They will do this through collaboration with our regional and national teams to secure media that demonstrates impact and positions OneGoal as a thought leader, support public speaking opportunities, and lead our organic and paid social media strategy.
You will do this by:
- Collaborate with the MarComm Team to develop and manage the editorial calendar and dashboard (5%)
- Lead and execute a public relations strategy (55%)
- Develop an org-wide PR strategy and consult on region-specific strategies
- Provide regional PR oversight (i.e., provide feedback and approve press releases, pitches, speaking points for regional initiatives, coordinate with EDs, RLT members to support media opportunities)
- Write and distribute limited org-wide press releases and accompanying pitches, and provide tools and approval for regional press releases and pitches.
- Manage incoming press inquiries and create spokespeople briefing documents for national outlets and for regions that don’t have communications leads
- Collaborate strategically with communications leads in partner organizations (i.e., NCAN, New York Times, etc.)
- Track and report media coverage and maximize coverage through OneGoal’s owned channels.
- Lead and execute an organic and paid social media strategy (35%)
- Develop a strategy and gather content (i.e., stories, photos, videos) for prioritized social media channels (i.e., LinkedIn and Instagram)
- Manage budget and strategy for paid social media
- Develop social media toolkits for various audiences (i.e., staff, partners, funders, board members)
- Proactively audit and respond to social media posts
- Track effectiveness and reporting for social media engagement
- Managing a video editing intern
- Provide limited speech support to the CEO and regional leaders (5%)
- Provide tools, templates, and consult on strategy for speeches
- Review and provide feedback on speeches

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree (Required)
- At least five years of experience working in marketing + communications, preferably in public relations and media relations (Preferred)
- Experienced leading cross functional projects (Required)
- Experience working with marketing software, including Muck Rack, Sprout Social, Opus Pro, Asana and leveraging Artificial Intelligence in a responsible and ethical way (preferred)
