Job Description Summary
Reporting to the Senior Director, Marketing & Digital Strategy, the Director of Marketing, Wharton Online, creates the vision and manages the implementation of Wharton Online’s marketing efforts to increase brand awareness and program enrollments. This role directs and oversees the relationship and outputs of a third-party marketing agency partnership and holds them accountable to meet KPIs, uphold brand standards, and implement content strategy. This role also manages a social media team to drive organic traffic, create and nurture a loyal learner community, and support any learner needs. 

Collaborating with the Director of Marketing Communications, this position supports the creation of digital and video marketing assets to be used in learner testimonials, organic social posts, and website design. This can include but is not limited to faculty and participant footage during online and in-person events, learner testimonial vignettes, LinkedIn Live events, and still photos of events or course production.
Additionally, the Director manages the marketing onboarding for course collaborators and monitors and reviews their marketing strategy and collateral to ensure alignment and proper use of the Wharton brand.

Job Description
Strategy and Leadership for Digital Marketing, Web, and Social Teams - Online
  • Working with the Senior Director, oversee the development and creation of a digital marketing vision and strategy for Wharton Online initiatives. Work closely with Marketing Leaders at Executive Education and the Wharton school, CMO’s of technology partners, and other Wharton Initiatives to ensure cohesive and effective messaging of Wharton Online programming to a global audience.
  • Provide strategy, leadership, and manage a team of Associate Directors, Managers, Coordinators, Freelancers, and outside vendors and partners who implement, monitor, and optimize a digital marketing plan to reach enrollment and revenue KPIs for B2C lines of business.
  • Create strategy for and oversee the implementation of Wharton Online’s organic social media presence to increase brand awareness, nurture brand loyal learners, and create an online community that promotes lifelong learning and the sharing of knowledge.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of Wharton Online’s webpage and digital presence for frictionless user experience and learner accessibility.

Collaborator Strategy and Management.
  • Manage brand and marketing onboarding for new collaborators to ensure expectation alignment and monitor current relationships for ongoing success
  • Monitor the review and management of digital strategy, created assets and content, and any collateral to support the Wharton brand, voice, and course values and initiatives
  • Provide backend digital support when needed to optimize cross organization marketing during setup and marketing efforts

Digital and Video Asset Creation
  • Oversee the creation of digital and video marketing assets to be used in learner testimonials, organic social posts, and website design.
  • This can include but is not limited to faculty and participant footage during online and in-person events, learner testimonial vignettes, LinkedIn Live events, and still photos of events or course production

Professional Development
  • Attend conferences to stay up to date of current best practices and research
  • Explore new technologies and platforms to further improve Wharton Online’s digital and content operations.
  • Create and nurture internal and external relationships to encourage cross collaboration and sharing of ideas.

QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum of 5-7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. 
  • Demonstrated experience directing a variety of integrated creative projects, including branding, websites, social media, video, print, email, and digital advertising, across both creative and content elements.
  • Successful experience managing resources and budgets for both internal and external relationships as well as an astute ability to work on multiple projects and manage numerous deadlines.
  • Understanding of the market landscape and edtech industry.
  • Ability and willingness to work across time zones and/or early morning/late evenings/weekends if needed.
