About the Opportunity
As part of Ellucian’s Emerging SaaS solutions, this role holds specific responsibility for shaping and scaling our Advancement product pillar. The Director of Product Management will lead the development of solutions that empower institutions to strengthen alumni engagement, optimize fundraising, and foster lifelong constituent relationships through AI-powered insights and modern engagement tools.
As a Director of Product Management at Ellucian, you will play a key strategic leadership role in driving the direction, success, and innovation of multiple product lines within our higher education technology portfolio. You will lead a talented team of product managers and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact, customer-centric solutions that meet the evolving needs of our users and align with our business goals. This role demands exceptional leadership in setting strategic priorities, managing complex initiatives, and driving product success across the portfolio, while ensuring long-term customer satisfaction and business growth.
In this senior leadership role, you will define the overarching product vision, guide product strategy and execution across multiple products, and mentor other product managers to achieve outstanding results. You will collaborate closely with executive leadership to ensure that your product portfolio drives sustainable growth, innovation, and exceptional user experiences within the higher education sector.

- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead and mentor a group of product managers, fostering their professional growth and empowering them to think strategically and execute efficiently. Build a collaborative, innovative culture that inspires high performance across the team.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the central point of contact for product strategy across multiple departments, including engineering, design, sales, marketing, and customer success. Drive seamless collaboration between teams to ensure the successful delivery of products that meet market demands and exceed customer expectations.
- Product Lifecycle Management: Oversee the end-to-end product lifecycle for your portfolio, ensuring that products meet market needs, deliver customer value, and achieve business objectives. Lead teams in delivering products that enhance user experiences and drive measurable outcomes.
- Market & Customer Insights: Lead comprehensive market research and customer analysis to identify market trends, pain points, and competitive opportunities. Use these insights to prioritize features, drive innovation, and develop differentiated product solutions that position Ellucian as a market leader.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for product success and ensure that teams have the tools and data to track performance. Use data-driven insights to continuously optimize products and improve customer outcomes.
- Product Strategy & Prioritization: Collaborate with executive leadership to align product initiatives with the company’s long-term strategic goals. Make data-informed decisions about product priorities and manage trade-offs to ensure that the portfolio delivers the highest business value.
- Go-to-Market Strategy & Execution: Partner with marketing, sales, and customer success teams to define and execute go-to-market strategies for new product launches. Ensure the successful adoption and ongoing engagement of customers with Ellucian’s products.
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Lead the ongoing innovation within your product portfolio, ensuring that products remain competitive and relevant in the market. Continuously evaluate and refine processes, tools, and methodologies to drive productivity and enhance product outcomes.
- Business & Finance Acumen: Drive strategic financial planning and operational oversight across the product portfolio, utilizing advanced budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling techniques. Ensure alignment of product investments with long-term business objectives, balancing resource allocation between immediate product needs and future growth initiatives. Partner with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to optimize financial performance while delivering innovative, high-impact products.
- Risk & Issue Management: Proactively identify and mitigate risks and roadblocks across your product portfolio. Guide teams in developing solutions to ensure timely, high-quality product delivery that meets customer needs and expectations.
What You Will Bring
- Experience: 10+ years of experience in product management, with at least 4 years in a leadership role overseeing multiple product lines. Extensive experience in SaaS, edtech, or technology industries is highly preferred.
- Leadership & Mentorship: Proven experience leading and mentoring a team of product managers. Ability to provide guidance, support, and leadership to cultivate team growth and drive high-impact product outcomes.
- Strategic Thinking: Expertise in shaping and executing product vision and strategy, balancing short-term priorities with long-term goals. Demonstrated ability to make high-level, strategic decisions that support company growth and market leadership.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with a history of working effectively across teams and aligning stakeholders around a common product vision, goals, and strategies.
- Customer & Market Expertise: Deep understanding of customer needs, market trends, and the competitive landscape. Proven ability to leverage insights to create actionable product strategies that differentiate the company’s offerings.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making. Ability to define, track, and optimize key metrics and KPIs to ensure product success.
- Product Lifecycle & Portfolio Management: Extensive experience managing a portfolio of products, overseeing the full lifecycle from ideation to delivery and iteration. Comfort with prioritizing initiatives and making tough trade-offs to maximize business impact.
- Agile Methodologies: Expertise in agile product management methodologies, with experience leading agile teams to deliver products iteratively and efficiently.
- Problem-Solving & Innovation: Ability to identify complex challenges and provide innovative solutions that improve customer outcomes, drive business performance, and foster continuous product improvement.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate product strategies and outcomes clearly and effectively to senior leadership and stakeholders at all levels.
