The Director, School Improvement is responsible for driving academic excellence through data driven instruction and innovative solutions for our students.  This role leads a team of academic administrators directing all educational, administrative and counseling activities for students in grades K-12.

Essential Functions:   Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.
  • Develops and implements educational policies and programs, ensuring that they are carried out appropriately by all students, parents, and staff;
  • Develops and oversees implementation of the Academic and School Improvement Plan;
  • Ensures conformance of educational programs to state and local school board standards through evaluation, development and coordination activities, including laws pertaining to special education;
  • Develops and implements programs to ensure data is being used to drive academic decisions and is effectively analyzed to drive instructional practices across all grade levels and content areas;
  • Researches and implements non-K12 curriculum resources that meet state standards;
  • Ensures teaching staff utilizes the K12 curriculum, effective assessments, and targeted instruction to meet the individual needs of each student;
  • Identifies and utilizes communication technologies and practices that most effectively support a predominantly virtual / remote work environment;
  • Manages leadership staff and departments and academic administrators/principals, and develops effective staff members through an ongoing evaluation process and professional development;
  • Helps articulate the school’s mission and vision with the aim of ensuring all stakeholders have a common understanding and are positioned to work cooperatively in order to achieve desired results;
  • Works closely with the HOS on establishing strong relationships with schools boards and partners;
  • Supports HOS in effective and efficient budget management;
  • Collaborates with Student Services teams, including Operations and Testing, to improve systems and processes that serve the school;
  • Collaborates with K12 School Services teams teams to ensure school programs are in alignment with authorizing agency requirements;
  • Creates and fosters a positive school culture by involving school staff, community leaders, students and parents.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises 5 - 10 Full-time Equivalent (FTE) regular employees and/or contractors. 

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Minimum Required Qualifications:   
  • Master’s Degree in Education AND
  • Five (5) years of educational leadership/principal experience OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
Certificates and Licenses: Florida Educational Leadership Certificate

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.); Web proficiency.
  • Ability to travel 20% of the time
  • Ability to pass required background check

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Thorough knowledge of Florida Education Policy and Procedures, State Accountability Measures, and Staff Development/Evaluation
  • Experience delivering K-12 instruction in a virtual environment
