Director of Professional Learning – Southern California
The Director of Professional Learning manages a sub-region of Senior Managers, Managers, Associate Managers, and the full/part-time field team in supporting implementations and adoptions of all programs across each component of the Professional Learning journey.  

The Director of PL participates in the National PL Leadership Team and supports company vision, strategic plan, goals, business demand and ongoing growth in alignment with national practices. The Director holds responsibilities for their sub-region to successfully drive impact on student achievement and the overall success of Curriculum Associates. Building and empowering strong management teams, strengthening cross departmental collaboration, and ensuring the fidelity of great service are priority areas of focus for the Director.

Candidates must live in or be willing to relocate to the Southern California area.

The impact and responsibilities of the role:
  • Participating in national PL leadership planning to establish strategic plans, objectives, and recommendations in alignment with CA vision and national PL practices
  • Supporting regional planning to establish strategic plans, objectives, and recommendations for the region in alignment with CA vision and national PL practices
  • Building capacity and empowering people managers to effectively lead their teams
  • Ongoing monitoring of business demand versus team capacity to make staffing recommendations
  • Collaborating with other directors and senior managers cross-departmentally to establish and implement strategies for meeting regional goals through consistent best practice and accountability
  • Analyzing complex situations or data, identifying challenges, and providing direction for team
  • Ensuring ongoing success within the region from onboarding, building advanced capacity, and consistent accountability of ongoing responsibilities
  • Monitoring individual and team performance metrics to ensure equitable balance and support across the team as the region serves business demand, meets budget, and achieves goals
  • Conducting observations for people managers and advanced consultant roles to strengthen leadership expertise
  • Strategizing with CA leadership teams, such as sales, PL service operations, partner success, content, and L&D to support growth needs across the region
  • Facilitating performance evaluations of direct reports and check-ins to ensure teams receive quality support from leaders and customers are receiving quality outcome-based professional learning
  • Managing expense approvals, time off requests, and other record-keeping responsibilities of direct reports to ensure compliance with company policies and best practices
  • Representing PL leadership on Implementation Service Teams (ISTs) when managers are not available
  • Fulfilling duties of downline as circumstances merit
  • Serving as an ambassador for Curriculum Associates, exemplifying the company’s mission-driven approach and commitment to creating better classrooms for students and teachers

Who we’re looking for:
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 4+ years of experience managing a multi-level team of direct and indirect reports in an educational or related field
  • 2+ years of experience coaching teachers, delivering professional learning and support, analyzing assessment data, and working directly with school and district leaders
  • 2+ years of teaching experience
  • Evidence of effective leadership in supporting multiple levels within a PL team, including those who are responsible for building capacity across the team
  • Evidence of high-quality observation and feedback coaching to elevate individual and team performance
  • Experience in development, training, and accountability for teams on policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Ability to manage, monitor, evaluate, and ensure integrity of program implementations
  • Ability to provide high-quality coaching to ensure managers have the skills to effectively lead their teams
  • Possess a high degree of comfort engaging in conversations on driving implementation fidelity with internal and external stakeholders, including executive leadership levels
  • Growth mindset, with commitment to ongoing learning and willingness to be flexible to meet evolving educator and team needs
  • Evidence of collaboration/relationship building with leadership and colleagues
  • Strong project management experience from evaluative and research phase to implementation
  • Proven organization skills, high attention to details, and superior time management that results in effectively completing multiple projects and prioritizing appropriately
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to lift 50lbs (travel and printed materials) and stand for extended periods of time

Not required, but we’d like to see:
  • Successfully leading remote teams
  • Leadership experience in educational technology and specific to California
  • Proficient in multiple business programs (i.e., SalesForce, Domo, Quantum, LMS, Outlook, Excel, Word, Ppt)

Salary Range for this role: $110,500 - $196,500.

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that Curriculum Associates considers in making compensation decisions based on our Compensation Philosophy. Actual base pay within that range will vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, prior experience and relevant skill sets. At Curriculum Associates, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances for each case.

Ability to keep all travel points for flights and hotels booked for work-related travel. Mileage reimbursement may be available for applicable travel.

Travel: Travel is required and considered an essential function of the job. Throughout the year, the percentage of travel varies in correlation to business need. Travel regularly averages between 40-60% per week but can fluctuate as high as 100% during some weeks of the year. Travel includes overnight stays at hotels and transportation via car, plane, and/or public transportation. Out-of-state travel may be required based on business demand. Additionally, a valid driver's license is required for this role.

Location: This position will be required to manage teams primarily in Southern California, cover onsite support to districts and build internal capacity across the region. Candidates must live in or be willing to relocate to the Southern California area.
