The Director of Sales, B&N Team Lead is responsible for selling the Tor Publishing Group (Tor, Bramble, Forge, Nightfire, and Tordotcom imprints) to Barnes & Noble. In addition to an active sales role, the incumbent will collaborate with Marketing, Publicity, and Sales to position titles at Barnes & Noble. This position will oversee the Adult B&N team and act as a point person for the entire Macmillan B&N team (Adult & Kids) related to Barnes & Noble. Additionally, this position will oversee sales reps for Book-A-Million, Inc. (AWBC) and B&N College and be responsible for driving sales success with those accounts.
What you'll do:
- Maximize sales of new and backlist titles for the Tor Publishing Group (Tor, Bramble, Forge, Nightfire, and Tordotcom imprints) with Barnes & Noble. Identify opportunities for new revenue. Partner with the publishing imprints on re-purposing content, book packaging and marketing, positioning, and timing of their titles. Plan and forecast sales of key titles, including exclusive and signed editions.
- Act as point person with B&N for the entire Macmillan B&N Sales Team (Kids + Adult). Maintain strong business relationships at all levels to encourage profitability, mutual sales growth and efficiency both with B&N and the publishers.
- Lead Adult B&N Sales Team by coordinating sales calls, previews, incentives, author events, social, and additional meetings. Provide direction, guidance, best practices, and analysis to ensure sales growth and efficiency for all sales team members.
- Act as a point person with Books-A-Million, Inc (BAM) and B&N College. Maintain strong business relationships at all levels to encourage profitability, mutual sales growth and efficiency for all Macmillan publishers.
- Manage BAM Sales Rep and the B&N College Sales rep. Develop their skill sets, review and critique their performance, and advise and troubleshoot their daily tasks.
- Attend various editorial, operations, pricing, estimating, and print and bind meetings on a weekly, monthly, and seasonal basis.
- Coordinate with VP of Trade Sales on larger team issues, strategy, and position of personnel and titles. Maintain good communication and coordination on all issues of concern or high impact.

Ideal Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of management or comparable experience required.
- Minimum 8 years of sales or comparable experience required.
- 10+ years of experience in a book publishing sales environment preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree
This role will have an annual salary of $125,000 - $140,000
