About Us:
The Director of Web Strategy and Development plays a pivotal role in setting the priorities and strategy for Albert Einstein College of Medicine’s website and intranet, in collaboration with the Executive Director of Communications and Public Affairs. The director will act as the institution’s web manager and project lead, responsible all web-related projects and initiatives, encompassing design, development, and content. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement a strategic plan for Einstein’s website and intranet that aligns with the College of Medicine’s vision, strategic priorities, and business goals.
- Direct a team of 2-4 web developers and a designer, and work closely with the Director, Digital Content, to ensure the successful execution of web projects.
- Liaise with Montefiore Einstein, to tightly coordinate web strategy, process, development and user experience (UX) standards to ensure consistency across the unified site.
- Plan and oversee multiple web development projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards and branding.
- Use strong background in UX fundamentals, content strategy, usability, creative, content development, including in ecommerce, editorial content, and/news, to ensure the best product for multiple audiences, including current and prospective students, faculty, and staff, as well as alumni and donors.
- Act as liaison between the web team and leadership within the organization, communicating project status, priorities, and requirements for top level assignments and projects.
- Use analytics on website traffic, user engagement, and search engine rankings to identify areas of improvement.
- Implement best practices in web team development, workflow, and quality assurance.
- Embrace and model a continuous quality improvement mindset by identifying areas of improvement in process, efficiency, and quality.
- Develop and refine functional roadmaps for the Albert Einstein College of Medicine website and related properties, collaborating with leadership and digital teams on required features and enhancements. Actively manage related functional backlogs and content management workstreams to ensure coordinated releases.
- Ongoing program schedule and status reporting.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor's degree or advanced certification in related field is required.
- 10 or more years of experience managing technical and transactional projects and multi-disciplinary teams with at least 3 to 5 years in a leadership role
- Proven strength in relationship management with direct reports and institutional leadership.
- Strong background in UX fundamentals, content strategy, information architecture, usability, creative, content development, including in ecommerce, editorial content, and/news
- Deep experience in Drupal CMS and/or scaled content management systems
- Working knowledge of basic front-end, back-end and networking technologies is required (HTML, CSS, JS, SQL, RDBMS, DNS). Prior experience with one or more scripting languages is preferred.
- Expert-level project management skills with experience managing workflows; ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously
- Strong attention to detail
- Enthusiasm for medical science, research and innovation.
- Experience in scientific, medical, healthcare, or academic environment preferred.
- Skilled in cloud-based project and work management tools (e.g., Jira, Google Workspaces, Sharepoint, Figma, Office 365, Smartsheet.)
- Prior PMP, CSM or PMI certifications is a plus.
Scope of Responsibility:
- Interact regularly with the 20 people who are part of the department, as well as the many individuals, both internal and external to Einstein, who interact with the Executive Director.
- Supervise a team of 4-6 people, including web developers and designers
- Work with Montefiore Einstein to coordinate web strategy and manage external resources
Additional Information: In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is listed below. Albert Einstein College of Medicine considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. Minimum Salary Range: USD $162,500.00/Yr. Maximum Salary Range: USD $175,000.00/Yr.
