Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serve as an administrator for the Learning Management System (LMS), video management platforms, and integrated distance education technologies including but not limited to Honorlock, Tutor.com, Turnitin.com, and Respondus. 
  • Assist in the evaluation, selection, testing, and deployment of emerging educational technologies and third-party tools including but not limited to LMS integrations and Virtual Reality applications.
  • Act as the first point of escalation for faculty and students to resolve LMS-related technical and software issues within the distance education ecosystem. 
  • Provide hands-on technical assistance in the Distance Education Lab and Virtual Reality Lab, ensuring students have access to the necessary hardware and software for their coursework.
  • Create, update, and maintain user guides and technical guides to ensure support materials meet student, faculty, and staff needs. 
  • Partner with Instructional Designer to develop training materials and professional development opportunities for faculty and staff.
  • Facilitate or co-facilitate with Instructional Designer to deliver technology training sessions for faculty across both campuses, focusing on practical applications for instructional software. 
  • Assist in coordinating and executing student-facing technology trainings and events. 
  • Draft and distribute timely announcements regarding LMS system updates, maintenance windows, and new feature releases to the campus community.
  • Support the technical setup, distribution, and execution of course evaluations of distance education courses.
  • Consistently demonstrate a high standard of professional communication and service-oriented support in all interactions. 
  • Assist faculty and staff with digital accessibility efforts including but not limited to using built-in LMS accessibility checkers, following guidance from the DOJ, WebAIM, and Section 508, and focusing on digital accessibility from the ADA. 

Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Technology, Education, or related field, required.
  • Minimum of one year of work experience in or technology-related field, required - in a higher education setting, preferred.
  • Experience with Canvas learning management system and other educational technologies, required.

SALARY:  Compensation is in accordance with the Alabama Community College System’s Salary Schedule E1-2 ($50,680 - $68,169).
