Education Content Specialist Full Description

Magma Math is seeking an Education Content Specialist to write for the people who decide what happens in a district's math classroom. The role is filed under Marketing but is functionally instructional-design and content work: this writer already knows K-12 education from the inside and wants to spend the day diving into good math instruction. Blog posts, one-pagers, and campaign copy support are produced multiple times a week for math coaches, teachers, and district leadership.

What You'll Write
  • Blog posts and articles for math coaches on problems of practice (e.g., why students who can compute still can't explain, intervention blocks that aren't moving the needle, running a "same but different" routine) and for district leadership on trends like screen time and safe AI implementation
  • One-pagers: tight, useful documents for districts covering implementation timelines, what the first three weeks of teacher adoption look like, and how the approach differs from answer-checking platforms
  • Campaign copy support: emails and social posts, often built from existing writing
  • Additional assets as needed: conference materials, case studies, PD handouts, sales talking points, landing page rewrites, with room over time for webinars, podcasts, and longer research reports

What We're Looking For
  • Real K-12 experience from any direction: teaching, instructional coaching, curriculum writing, instructional design, a district/state teaching-and-learning role, or an edtech career spent close to schools
  • Writing samples the candidate can show: blog posts, a newsletter, curriculum documents, PD materials, a Substack, a conference deck, or a program evaluation
  • A comfortable working pace of two to three finished pieces a week, sustainably, with an editor
  • Range across registers, from a math coordinator audience to a superintendent audience
  • Fluency with the language of the work: productive struggle, vertical alignment, fidelity, discourse, number sense

The role is based in the New York City office under a 4-day in-office policy. The salary range for this full-time position is $85,000-$100,000 per year, based on experience, skill level, and location.
