JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The e-Learning Specialist works with the Viega Technical Services team to design, author, and implement engaging learning for the plumbing and mechanical piping industries. The specialist will create educational courses using video & photo assets, technical information, knowledge & skills assessments, and other content, for delivery via Viega’s external facing Learning Management System (LMS). They will work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to develop learning objectives, conduct needs assessments, design new courses, and update existing course content, for the LMS and live instructor-led training. Typical learners will be contractors, engineers, vendor partners, code officials, architects, and building owners, as well as other personas in the piping industries.

JOB DESCRIPTION DETAILS
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Serve as course developer, team player, and change agent for the utilization and growth of the LMS and supports the use of current and leading-edge best practices in course development and delivery. 
 
  • Provide consultation and assistance on strategy related to training structure, deployment, registration of self-serve training, and new course material ideas. Consults with SMEs on course content, user interface, and how to access training in the LMS. 
 
Work collaboratively with the SMEs to develop learning objectives, conduct needs assessments and design training programs. Develops courses, assessments, and learning paths, including course creation from storyboard to publication.  Interface with external authoring software and LMS vendors and agencies as they relate to sustaining and improving our LMS capabilities.   Provide direct assistance regarding LMS utilization, problem resolution, testing, and optimization. Works directly with SMEs and management to maintain accuracy and ensure all content is current and updated. Performs analysis and testing of the LMS, drives fast bug-resolution and feature requests on for the LMS. Helps provide leadership and knowledge toward the continual evolution of online learning solutions available to all users.  Develops and implements processes and controls for user support, training for users with administrative permissions, and an evaluation process for course updates.  Extensive knowledge about SCORM and API requirements as related to LMS content.  Experience in the configuration, implementation, and administration of desktop and mobile e-Learning platforms. Ability to take existing technical content and author into online learning modules with the assistance of SMEs. 
  • Provides reporting from LMS on a monthly basis to include but not limited to: registration, progress tracking, user engagement, usage, attendance, course trends, pass/fail rates, course enrollments, etc. 
  • Works with Manager and SMEs, using collected LMS metrics, to establish direction on all training content. Seeks input from cross-functional teams such as Technical Services, Market Management, Codes & Standards, Marketing, and Legal regarding final content.

Special  Job Dimensions 
  • Will be required to travel up to 20% of the time. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships in a fast-paced setting and to collaborate with a diverse clientele. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing. 
  • Leverage adult learning theory to design effective and engaging e-learning content. 
  • Work closely with subject matter experts to create and review content and manage project timelines. 
  • Develop, edit, and/or procure graphic, photo, and video assets for content  
  • Understand and create scripts/storyboards for planning new learning content. 
  • Research third-party learning tools and solutions and provide recommendations for improving existing offerings and resources. 
  • Develop appropriate assessments for web-based training modules and learning paths. 
  • Collaborate with the Technical Consulting team to capture video content. 
  • Gather feedback from SMEs and other members of the Technical Services team when creating courses. 
  • Contribute to a blended learning approach with a focus on adult learning theory and continuous learning. 
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills. Strong organization skills, attention to detail, and time-management skills. Ability to build and maintain positive, productive relationships within and across teams, customers, and vendors.

Education, Certification/License & Work Experience 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Instructional Design, or related field (Preferred) 
  • 2 years related experience  
OR  
  • 6 years related experience with proven portfolio 
  • Knowledge of the building or construction industry (Preferred) 
  • Experience developing custom e-Learning solutions for diverse target audiences (Required) 
  • Experience in developing video tutorials (Required) 
  • Experience with multiple e-learning authoring software platforms, including Articulate Storyline (Required) Camtasia, Photoshop, Adobe Creative Suites, Adobe Captivate, Audacity, Adobe Premiere, etc. (Required) 
  • Knowledge of Cloud-based Learning Management Systems (Required) 
  • Microsoft Office suite (Required)

Total Rewards Package:

Compensation
  • Base: $73,000-110,000 based on specific compensable factors including, but not limited to education, work experience, and geographic market.
  • Bonus: This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
