| Primary Purpose of Position | The Employee Relations Specialist will be responsible for providing support to the Director of Employee Relations and Equal Employment Opportunity/AAO in the areas of Employee Relations, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Affirmative Action. Serves as the Accommodation Coordinator. In this capacity, the employee will work closely with the Director of Employee Relations EEO/AAO to review and assess all documentation on individuals with disabilities to ascertain if they have a disability as defined by Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and American Disabilities Act (ADA) and ADA Amendment Acts (ADAAA). |

| Duties | Provide case management and support in all aspects of Employee Relations for faculty and staff (EHRA and SHRA) for NCA&T State University; including conducting workplace investigations and preparing investigation reports, providing guidance on disciplinary actions, faculty and staff grievance administration, employee and management counseling on policies, procedures, and workplace and performance issues. Prepare discovery and public records request documents; prepare grievance and disciplinary action audit reports for Office of State Personnel; assist in preparing reports including but not limited to the annual VETS l00 report. Maintain employee relations and EEO database; create and maintain files for EEOC and Office of Administrative Hearing complaints; and provide annual reporting data on disciplinary actions and grievances to all required agencies (Office of State Human Resources, Police Administration, etc.) as required. Assist the Director of Employee Relations EEO/AAO with the development and management of a campus-wide program of employee relations to affect a variety of employment issues; in conducting assessments, surveys, proactive prevention of discrimination strategies through workplace climate assessments and other proactive tools, as appropriate and in gathering feedback. Oversee the design and implementation of a comprehensive supervisory/management training curriculum for the University, Oversee the search committee training and maintenance of search committee rosters. |

| Duties | Assist the Director of Employee Relations EEO/AAO with ensuring that NC A&T State University has an Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunity program that complies with all Federal and State requirements. Ensure compliance with EHRA and SHRA Human Resources policies, as well as Federal and State regulatory requirements regarding employment and affirmative action plans (both State and Federal) by staying informed about employment laws and regulations. Assist in the development, implementation, and communication of HR policies and procedures. Assist Director of Employee Relations EEO/AAO with Americans Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance, including review of reasonable accommodation requests. Work with University leadership and administration to ensure that the university’s commitment to equal employment opportunity is carried out, including assisting with the preparation of the University’s EEO Plan. This position may be called to lead and/or serve on special project teams and committees as assigned by the Vice Chancellor for HR, the Assistant Vice Chancellors for HR, or Director of Employee Relations EEO/AAO as needed. Serve on ad hoc committees and project teams. Provide administrative support for Director of Employee Relations EEO/AAO. Serve as Employee Relations Training Coordinator: Schedule training classes with the Center for Leadership and Organizational Excellence and the OSP; Ensure adequate communication and advertising for training classes (virtual, in person or hybrid), set up classroom, prepare roster and evaluations for attendees, maintain a database of attendees, monitor and reschedule attendees who did not complete their session and distribute any applicable certificates to attendees. |

Prepare and submit required mediation documentation for OSHR (notice of impasse, mediation agreements, etc.). Work with a high degree of diligence and precision, even when under tight deadlines; conduct thorough fact-checking and research to ensure the accuracy and credibility of all information; maintain consistency in information and terminology across multiple documents and platforms; proofread and edit for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style, ensuring a high degree of accuracy and consistency; and review texts for typos and errors before publishing. |
