Position Description
Advertised Job Summary | The successful candidate will orchestrate the Engage Green project in the Office of Service Learning and Community Engagement (AKA Engage Upstate). Engage Green is a collaborative effort with our campus Food Forest and Spartanburg Area Conservancy’s Upper Chinquapin Greenway where Upstate faculty lead the students in their courses out of the classroom to learn and serve. The Engage Green Project Lead will report to the Community Engagement Coordinator. Primary tasks will be to coordinate communications and logistics with instructors, campus and external partners, and other student workers in facilitating our Engage Green project. The successful candidate will also attend service events, take pictures, write short paragraphs about share-worthy experiences to share with a PR Intern in our office; update our Community Engagement database for each event; give an orientation/meaningfulness speech on the shuttle to the Greenway; coordinate with student workers to collect signatures; scan and share attendance sheets; update/inventory/coordinate equipment/T-shirts; and conduct similar duties as assigned. This person should be very organized & responsible. Qualifications | - Detail-oriented- Professional in F2F, virtual, and electronic communication- Proficient in Microsoft Word- Comfortable with computer-based tasks- Able to motivate and direct others in a positive fashion- Experience in a service-learning/community engagement course preferred
