Job Summary
The Senior Instructional Designer for Epic Ambulatory leads the development and sustainment of high-quality learning solutions that enable clinicians and staff to use Epic applications efficiently, safely, and in alignment with clinical workflows. This position serves as a subject matter expert in Epic Ambulatory education, responsible for analyzing training needs, designing standardized curricula, developing materials, maintaining the Epic training environment, and partnering with Certified Trainers (CTs), analysts, and operational leaders to ensure effective learning outcomes.
Candidates must live within two hours of Philadelphia and be comfortable working on-site up to two days per week.
Essential Functions
- Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
- Lead design and maintenance of Epic Ambulatory and related clinical application curricula and job aids using adult-learning principles.
- Develop blended learning (virtual, e-learning) for clinicians, schedulers, and support staff.
- Maintain and rebuild the Epic training environment; coordinate updates with analysts and IT.
- Deliver credentialed-trainer and super-user education; support go-lives and optimizations.
- Conduct needs assessments and apply continuous improvement feedback to refine materials.
- Collaborate with operational leaders, educators, and vendors to align training with workflow and system changes.
- Track participation, competency, and adoption metrics via the LMS.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required):
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Health Informatics, or related field.
- 5+ years experience designing, developing, and delivering clinical application training programs.
- Epic Ambulatory certification or proficiency required; experience supporting Ambulatory, Wisdom, Kaleidoscope, or MyChart modules preferred.
- Familiarity with LMS platforms (e.g., uPerform) and training environment administration.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, organization, and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional healthcare environment.
