Finance, Procurement and Travel Specialist Full Description

Join the University of Alaska Anchorage as a Finance, Procurement and Travel Specialist supporting the College of Engineering and the
Community & Technical College. This role is a key part of the college’s fiscal team, helping faculty and staff navigate financial processes including purchasing, travel coordination, and financial transaction support. You will work with university financial systems to ensure
transactions are accurate, compliant, and well-documented while supporting the daily operations of academic programs. If you enjoy working with numbers, solving problems, and providing excellent service in a collaborative environment, we encourage you to apply.
This position assists with accounts payable and receivable processing, procurement coordination, travel support, and financial record maintenance using university systems such as Banner and Concur. Working as part of a collaborative fiscal team, this role helps ensure transactions are accurate, compliant with university policies, and properly documented while supporting the operational needs of academic departments. The position offers the opportunity to develop expertise in university financial systems, procurement procedures, and higher education fiscal operations while working closely with faculty and administrators across multiple programs.

Successful candidates will have strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple financial transactions and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Experience working with financial or accounting systems, processing fiscal transactions, and applying policies and procedures will be valuable in this role. The ideal candidate is comfortable communicating with a wide range of faculty and staff, enjoys problem-solving, and can independently research and resolve financial discrepancies while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism.

Minimum Qualifications:
One year of college coursework in Accounting or related field and two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of progressively responsible training and experience.

Position Details:
This position is located on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus in Anchorage, and flexible on-site/hybrid work arrangements may be considered in accordance with UA regulations. This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 77, based on education and experience.
