Job Description 
New River Community College is a two-year state institution of higher education operating under a statewide system of 23 community colleges. The college is located on a one-hundred plus acre site at the intersection of U.S. Routes 11 and 100 in Dublin, Virginia. The campus provides modern, well-equipped facilities for the career technical education programs as well as for the college transfer programs. Approximately 5,000 students comprise the student body.

Duties Process federal student loans and award G3 state funding. Oversee federal work study students, including placement, onboarding, evaluations, and payroll submissions. Transfer FAFSA information from CPS into the SIS system and assign checklists to students. Populate messages into the Student Message Center. Assist students with completing the FAFSA and with questions concerning awards, disbursements, and various other financial aid issues. Conduct financial aid workshops for high schools in the service region. Coordinate student outreach for various groups of students. Work occasional evening and weekend hours as required. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Special Assignments  | May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications  | Demonstrated knowledge of general office practices and procedures. Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles and practices and experience with computerized accounting systems. Ability to use various computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, and e-mail. Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments and meet deadlines while working effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Good oral and written communication skills. Ability to work well with others in a confidential and professional manner.

Additional Considerations  | Additional factors that may be considered include education and work experience in the accounting field, experience with PeopleSoft Student Information System (SIS), PeopleSoft Administrative Information System (AIS) or comparable automated systems for institutions of higher education, and knowledge of Microsoft Office computer applications.
