Overview: 
Financial Aid Compliance Reviewer Senior
 
The Compliance Reviewer, Senior is accountable for completing the second level review of student financial aid files. This position processes, reviews, and determines if the file is compliant with federal, state, and institutional related guidelines. This position strictly adheres to guidelines and protocols established by the Department of Education’s federal student aid programs. As a key advisor and subject matter expert, this position may deliver targeted training programs, collaborate with leadership on policy implementation, and partner with cross-functional teams to streamline financial aid workflows. Additionally, this role supports audit readiness, proactively mitigates risks, and fosters a culture of compliance and accountability across multiple campuses.

Principal Accountabilities & Deliverables
  • Conduct second-level file reviews for financial aid applications across all student statuses (new, continuing, re-entry, withdrawn, and graduates)
    • Comply with, and adhere to, federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations, including U.S. Department of Education Federal Student Aid (FSA) requirements
    • Identify and resolve conflicting information, verification issues, C-codes, professional judgments, and awarding discrepancies
  • Act as a liaison between the Corporate and Campus financial aid teams, ensuring alignment of practices across multiple locations
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including compliance, student services, and enrollment teams, to drive process consistency
    • Provide recommendations to senior leadership based on compliance trends and institutional needs
  • Provide clear guidance, responsive support, and a positive student experience
  • Support internal and external audit processes, ensuring all required documentation and compliance measures are met
    • Proactively identify and address potential risks that could impact financial aid eligibility or regulatory standing
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Title IV regulations, financial aid policies, and industry best practices
  • Track and analyze team compliance accuracy rates
    • Develop and maintain comprehensive reporting to highlight strengths and pinpoint recurring errors
    • Implement corrective action strategies for compliance gaps and risk mitigation
  • Design and deliver targeted training programs for campus financial aid staff to address error trends
    • Serve as a subject matter expert, providing ongoing guidance and technical support
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by coaching staff on best practices and regulatory updates
  • Other duties as assigned.
 Qualifications:
Education / Experience
  • HS Diploma / GED (required); Associate degree in business, accounting, finance or other related field (preferred)
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Financial Aid and/or Financial aid packaging (required)
    • Packaging in a Non-Standard Term, Non-Term, Clock to Credit Hour environment (required)
  • Must not currently be in default on any federal student loans or go into default on any federal student loans while employed
    • Strong working knowledge of:
    • Financial aid regulations (especially DOE and state specific regulations)
    • Principles and procedures for auditing and correcting financial aid files
    • Record keeping, versioning, document retention and other administrative processes and procedures
    • Customer service best practices and processes

Work Environment
  • Work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment when on site at assigned company location. Employees must be able to safely ambulate when on company premises.
