| Description: Job Summary The Financial Aid Counselor II assists prospective and current students with all matters related to acquiring and maintaining financial aid. DutiesCompletes the verification process for students; verifies that the information provided on FAFSA correctly reflects the information on the IRS Tax Transcript Reviews each ISIR file to determine if it needs to be loaded into PeopleSoft for review Reviews student Satisfactory Academic Plan appeals; determines if progress has been made; suspends students and removes aid if no progress is made Liaises with students as necessary via email, phone, or in-person to keep them up-to-date with their status Runs reports and queriesMarginal Duties Performs all other duties as assignedSupervisory Responsibilities Direct Reports: NoneDelegation of Work: N/ASupervision Given: N/AKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge: Understanding of federal and state regulations that govern financial aid eligibility in higher education, and the related trends, issues, and accepted practices Knowledge of relevant Department of Education websites, including COD, NSLDS. and FAA AccessSkills: Good technical skills, including proficiency in MS Office and PeopleSoft; strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skillsAbilities: Ability to use independent judgment Ability to multitask Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse communityWork Location and Physical Demands Primary Work Location: Works in an office environmentPhysical Demands: Work is performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any unpleasant elements; Individual has discretion in relation to walking, standing etc., and has minimal exposure to physical risks Must have precise hand-eye coordination and the ability to identify and distinguish colors Must have the ability to move items of up to 15lbsQualifications Required Education: Bachelor's degreeRequired Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of related job experienceLicense/Certification: None requiredPreferred Qualifications None
