Position Summary
The Financial Analyst is responsible for overseeing and supporting the budget and financial reporting for the Departments of Otolaryngology, Surgery and Urology. Reporting to the Manager of Budget and Finance, the position will work with both faculty and administrative staff to ensure the departments operate in a fiscally sustainable manner.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the manager of budget and finance in financial management of Surgery, Otolaryngology, and Urology, and contribute to budget planning, monitoring financial entries, transaction audits, and daily operations.
- Support the departmentâs senior director of budget and finance, assistant director of budget and finance, senior financial analysts, and other financial analysts.
NYPH pass-through projects:
- Monitor large and complex NYPH pass-through transactions. Update the project schedule and prepare allocations.
- Track all new and pending lines, communicate with NYPH finance team, and report to the team.
- Prepare reconciliation templates for deanâs office if meetings are scheduled.
Malpractice Insurance:
- Work with HR to support onboarding officers to ensure classes are coded correctly.
- Communicate with CMO to receive credits for terminated physicians, short-term leave staff, and retiring members.
- Prepare other required paperwork and distribute annual malpractice insurance certificates to division assistants.
Financial Report Preparation:
- Routinely create monthly, quarterly, and annual transfers within Surgery and to outside departments. Also, generate similar reports for Otolaryngology, and Urology.
HeartSource financial management:
- Collaborate with HeartSource COO, generate financial reports, prepare internal transfer funds, and notify Cardiology for approval.
Invoicing:
- Get familiar with medical service agreements, produce monthly invoices.
- Monitor agreement negotiation, changes in rates, and extension execution.
- Help accounting with journal updates when payment.
Accounts Receivable:
- Track and oversee accounts receivable for MSAs, NYPH funds, and many other transactions with outside organizations.
- Monitor past due payments and communicate with the team. Reconcile bank accounts and submit transfer requests.
Ad hoc Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare many one-off reports and analyses on demand as requested by supervisor and CFO.
Data entry
- Publish daily trial balance reports for Surgery, Otolaryngology, and Urology.
- Help team members with data entries in service corporation, malpractice insurance, telecommunication, and other shared allocations.
Data Download:
- Get familiar with routine downloads and submit to requesters for approvals
- Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience
