The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary

Reporting to the Finance Managers, the Financial Analyst will support the financial management of the department. The position will work closely with the Pediatrics Finance team members and the Divisional Administrators. Responsible for supporting all financial reporting needs of the department.

Responsibilities

  • Process journal entries for monthly, quarterly, and year-end close.
  • Assist with all aspects of budget preparation; monthly NYPH transfers, service agreements, fellow’s charges and reconciliations.
  • Assist with analyzing account balances, overdrafts, track payments and expenditures.
  • Responsible for accurately tracking and managing accounts receivable for MSAs, NYPH Special funds, and other outside organizations.
  • Monitors past due payments and work with outside organizations to collect and keep receipts current.
  • Manage and process the Pediatrics Department deposits from external sources.  Maintain the deposit database and ensure appropriate coding for COB reporting.
  • Assist with monthly calculations and charge back of AIM-HI, FPO, and departmental assessments and funds flow.
  • Assist with annual budget submission by updating and creating Divisional templates and submission to the budget tool.
  • Responsible for the creation and maintenance of chartfields for accurate accounting of expenses and revenue.
  • Works with the Pediatrics Finance managers and the CUIMC controller's office to prepare quarterly/annual accruals for more accurate and time-sensitive reporting.
  • Assist with PAC payroll salary distributions and cost transfers under the direction of the Senior Payroll manager and Director.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience required; plus three years of related experience.

Other Requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in higher education or other large, complex institutions is desirable. Familiarity with Columbia financial systems, particularly the Accounting at Columbia (ARC) system, is also highly desirable, along with experience with running financial reports for project reconciliation, and budgeting in the University Budget Tool.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Analytical and problem-solving skills.
