Advantage Testing of Houston is looking for exceptional educators who want to build a long-term career as professional tutors. We are seeking candidates who enjoy working one-on-one with students, have strong academic backgrounds, and want to develop their expertise across a wide range of academic and standardized-test programs.
Starting pay is $49/hour, with the opportunity to build toward a full-time schedule. Full-time tutors are eligible for health, dental, vision, and retirement benefits.
This is an in-person position at our Galleria-area office. Our tutors work individually with students in a professional office environment and become part of a collaborative team of experienced educators.

We provide services for a wide range of programs and age groups, including:
- SAT and ACT
- ISEE, SSAT, HSPT, and other admissions tests
- Academic tutoring
- Younger students and foundational academic skills
- Graduate and professional-level standardized tests
We provide extensive training and a large library of materials, and experienced tutors have opportunities to take on additional responsibilities and leadership roles within the organization.
Who We're Looking For
We are particularly interested in candidates who:
- Want to make tutoring a long-term career, with the goal of building toward a full-time schedule
- Have a bachelor's degree or higher
- Have prior experience as a tutor, teacher, educator, or academic coach; professional tutoring/teaching experience is preferred
- Have personally performed exceptionally well on standardized tests
- Can demonstrate strong command of all sections of the SAT and/or ACT
- Enjoy working individually with students and developing genuine relationships with them
- Are patient, empathetic, observant, and able to adapt their teaching approach to different students
- Are intellectually curious and interested in continuing to develop as an educator
- Are comfortable working in person from our Galleria-area office
- Are available for afternoons, evenings, and weekends
- Have reliable transportation
Starting pay: $49/hour
We are looking for candidates who are interested in tutoring approximately 25+ hours per week, although actual hours will depend on student demand, availability, and the tutor's ability to work across multiple programs.
Tutoring demand is concentrated in afternoons, evenings, and weekends, largely reflecting the schedules of K–12 students. Candidates must be comfortable working within these scheduling constraints.

About Advantage Testing of Houston
Advantage Testing of Houston has served Houston-area students and families since 1994. Our faculty consists primarily of honors graduates from leading colleges and universities, many of whom hold graduate or professional degrees.
We provide individualized tutoring for students ranging from young children through college, graduate, and professional students. Our programs include ISEE, HSPT, SSAT, SAT, PSAT, ACT, LSAT, GRE, GMAT, MCAT, and a wide range of academic subjects.
Our goal is not simply to help students improve their scores. We believe effective tutoring is built around understanding the individual student and helping them become more confident, capable, and independent learners.
