We have an incredible team of dedicated and driven staff who are passionate about helping students succeed. We are seeking candidates with that same commitment and motivation, who are ready to make a difference in the lives of students and their families. GEAR UP is all about helping students succeed academically and reach higher in their education. As an advisor, you will be one of the main people in your student’s life to help guide them from junior high and high school to college. Our work environment leaves plenty of room for you to innovate and be creative as you seek to connect important information and resources with students through workshops, advising sessions, activities, and more. We are seeking candidates who are fun, hard-working, well-organized, can work independently with minimal oversight, effective communicators, can help students develop important life-skills and navigate the college going process (e.g. finding scholarships, applying for financial aid, enrolling in college, and more), who value diversity and inclusion, and are willing to learn. With that said, we’re currently hiring a part-time (22 hours per week) college access advisor for the following junior high and/or high school(s):
Bonneville High School (Weber School District)
If you are looking for a slow-paced or mundane desk job, this is definitely not the job for you! The work we do is engaging, life-changing, and inspiring. We work with some of the most incredible students and families you will ever come across. In GEAR UP, our focus is to bridge the higher education attainment gap for students from low-income households and historically marginalized backgrounds. Because of this important focus, you will work in close collaboration with school staff and community partners to recruit students into the program, meet with them regularly, host occasional workshops and events, provide them with important information, plan and chaperone field trips, and equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in school and gain access to higher education. You will be part of an incredible team and will receive plenty of training and support to ensure your success in this position.
If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, we’d love for you to apply and submit your application materials, and we’ll be in touch if you are selected for an interview. While you’re at it, learn more about GEAR UP by visiting
