About You
You’re an experienced compensation or total rewards analyst who is excited to help us ensure we build and maintain a thoughtful, fair, and scalable approach to pay and recognition globally. You love digging into data, sharing insights, identifying patterns, and helping us make informed compensation decisions for our team. It’s not just about managing spreadsheets and benchmarks - it’s helping us live into our mission of being a great place to work where everyone feels valued and supported.

What you'll do
  • Play a key role in the development and maintenance of our job architecture, benchmarking new roles or job families.
  • Collect, organize, and interpret data related to salaries, bonuses, and benefits from different markets globally.
  • Participate in external compensation surveys with partnered vendors.
  • Support our compensation review cycles, advising on the fair application and correct calculation of raises and/or bonuses.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for compensation-related inquiries from Talent Acquisition, People Business Partners, and leaders, keeping all relevant parties consulted and informed.
  • Research global compensation, collecting and analyzing internal and external data to track compensation trends.
  • Drive the development of comp-related communications and educational materials, helping to communicate our global compensation philosophy and evolve our organizational understanding.
  • Ensure compliance with global compensation laws and standards, coordinating and responding to any audit or information requests.
  • Support our People Ops team in analyzing and improving our health insurance, retirement plans, time off policies, and other perks as needed. 
  • Create easy-to-understand reports and presentations that show our leaders how our total rewards programs are performing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. We are a lean team, and we flex to keep the People team and the broader Chess.com ecosystem moving forward. 

Preferred Skills
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in a global compensation or total rewards role, preferably with software or gaming start-ups, with at least 3 years administering a compensation program.
  • Global understanding of compensation fundamentals: job matching, cost of labour, job architecture, and evolving pay transparency processes and requirements.
  • Experience working with large amounts of data, interpreting compensation trends, and building intelligence through reporting and external survey data sources, such as Pave or Radford.
  • Excellent general tech skills, and experience with cloud-based tools including Google Workspace, Slack, Notion.
  • Experience working with Rippling (HRIS) highly preferred.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and a strong communicator; able to communicate complex information clearly and concisely to a variety of audiences.
