Scope of Job
To provide professional knowledge, advice and counseling skills regarding the graduate student admissions and recruitment process.
To provide high-level coordination and review of the graduate admissions process.
Description of Duties
• Develops and implements strategies of the admissions plan.

• Regularly gathers and analyzes information on application and enrollment trends to determine proper workloads.

• Supervises the assigned admissions staff and coordinates their daily tasks and schedules.

• Manages the suspension and probation process, including reviewing students’ academic status at the end of each semester, sending official notices to students, and notifying program directors and the registrar’s office.

• Oversees the thesis/dissertation process, including resolving issues with the publishing company, students and other organizing training events each semester.

• Acts as the main contact on campus for the graduate admissions process.

• Attends university meetings and participates in committees as needed.

• Maintains a thorough understanding of the admissions process in order to train staff, pinpoint and resolve issues and serve as a backup for assigned supervisor.

• Establishes a high level of integrity and ethical behavior in dealing with confidential information.

• Researches and confirms applicant residency status and maintains up to date on policies and procedures.

• Manages the interactions between the graduate office and outside service providers.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
Preferred Education
Master’s degree.
Licenses/Certifications

Required Experience
Two (2) years experience in education related field or experience in project coordinating.
Preferred Experience
Supervisory experience.
Equipment
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to become proficient in student information systems and other software.
Working Conditions
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office environment. UTRGV is a distributed institution, which may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley.
Other
May be required to be flexible to work night and/ or weekends. Some travel may be required. Ability to successfully interact with students, faculty and staff. High attention to detail, excellent organizational skills and ability to organize teams to complete tasks.
