Job Summary
Approximately 20 hours/week to include (but not limited to) the following duties 1) collection of samples and associated environmental data from remote field sites 2) processing, identification, and curation of invertebrate samples 3)data analysis and interpretation 4) writing journal articles and making conference presentations with data
Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in Biology or closely field
2. Unconditional admission to the Troy University Environmental and Biological Sciences M.S. Program (thesis track)
3. Must be able to perform field work under mentally and physically strenuous conditions, including exposure to insects, reptiles, and vegetation under hot and cold scenarios
4. Must be able to swim
5. Must be familiar with basic aquatic sampling techniques

Please note: Student positions are FICA/Medicare exempt only if students are enrolled in classes in the semester work is performed. To qualify for the FICA/Medicare exemption, you must be enrolled on a half-time basis for the Fall, Spring, or Summer.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Successful completion of a Limnology and/or Environmental Assessment course
Will this position require driving (personal vehicle, university vehicle, utility vehicle, or golf cart) in order to perform the job duties? Driving may be necessary but is not a primary responsibility
Work Hours
As conditions permit, generally within M-F 7 a.m.-6 p.m.

Position will include physically demanding work in remote areas, including exposure to the elements, wet conditions, biting insects, poisonous plants, and venomous snakes. Laboratory work will include extensive time indoors using a microscope, requiring precise movement over a substantial period of time.
