Advertising/Posting Title | Graphic Designer
Posting Summary | Produce high-quality, creative, and compelling designs that work in support of the University’s enrollment strategies and goals for undergraduate and graduate recruitment. In close collaboration with the Enrollment Management Marketing team, conceptualize, develop, and design visually compelling marketing materials to attract and engage prospective graduate and undergraduate students. Work collaboratively with the University of Vermont’s Division of Strategic Communications’ Creative Director to ensure visual continuity between the visual expression of enrollment materials and the university’s brand. Collaborate with external vendors/firms to provide support and feedback to enrollment campaigns. Utilizing innovation, creativity, and curiosity, work on designs for digital, print, and other out-of-home expressions of the university brand in support of recruitment, retention, and reputational goals. Participate in professional development as needed to remain current on emerging design trends and platforms. Participate in meetings to remain current on the university’s strategic goals. Actively engage in learning and practicing principles of the University’s Our Common Ground Values, including environmental sustainability and delivering great customer experience for our campus community.
Seventy-five percent of project work will be focused on enrollment as defined by the Director of Enrollment Management Marketing in collaboration with the University Creative Director. These projects span content development and strategy, design and production, project management, and reporting. Projects outside of enrollment will be assigned by the University Creative Director.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience) | Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field and 2+ years of experience in graphic design, preferably in a marketing environment. Experience designing for both digital and print production. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and other design software. Strong photo editing skills. Strong portfolio showcasing a diverse range of design work and a clear understanding of information hierarchy and content delivery through visual design. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and in a team setting while adhering to established project deadlines.
Desirable Qualifications | Strong understanding of higher education is highly desirable. Knowledge of print presses and printing techniques is desirable. Working knowledge of Slate (or similar CRM), Wrike (or similar project management system), Drupal, Social Media, DAM systems, Figma, and/or and Microsoft Office Suite, are desirable. Anticipated Pay Range | $55,000 - $60,000
