Graphic Designer
Do you possess the artistic skill, technical knowledge, and originality needed to create custom illustrations? Do you have detailed working knowledge of software for digital design and development, print design and publishing, and the precise preparation of files for vendors? Are you knowledgeable about usage rights, licensing, and copyright laws? Do you possess excellent communication and creative thinking skills?
The Graphic Designer develops original concepts and designs to meet the strategic needs of the Division of Student Affairs and Academic Support. They produce public relations and marketing materials for diverse audiences to build awareness, drive engagement, and enhance the division’s reputation. The designer leverages their expertise in visual design, custom illustration, project management, and production to deliver compelling and creative solutions for both digital and print communications.
Key Responsibilities:Develop and create engaging digital content, including social media posts, website, videos, podcasts, and other multimedia assets. Capture and edit high-quality photos and videos that showcase campus life, events, academic programs, research activities, and student achievements. Create and revise digital artwork and photos by preparing final files for quality publishing or digital use while utilizing industry-standard software like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign to create visuals. Work closely with clients to understand their needs and collaborate with communications and marketing team members to ensure designs align with strategy and broader division goals. Translate the university brand as defined by the Brand Collaborative to an effective visual communications and strategy for the division.

Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience | Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 2 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.

Bachelor’s degree in Media Arts, Graphic Design, Marketing, or Visual Communications preferred. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud including but not limited to Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign and Adobe Illustrator.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities | Knowledge of graphic design best practices and production processes.
Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities. Possess a positive attitude and demonstrate flexibility in responding to changing conditions on projects.
Detailed working knowledge of software for digital design and development, print design and publishing, and the accurate preparation of files for vendors.
Intermediate level skills with core Adobe Creative Cloud design applications. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Well-developed understanding of established and emerging design aesthetics, print and digital design principles, typography, color theory, illustration, photography, and techniques for effective design.
Artistic skill, technical knowledge, and originality through custom illustration.
Excellent communications and creative thinking skills, with an ability to effectively present to clients and communicate underlying strategies.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
Familiarity with usage rights, licensing, and copyright laws.
