High School SPED Academic Support Tutor - ELA, World History & Algebra 2

About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Cudahy, CA!

Details:

• In-Person Tutoring in Cudahy, CA
• Schedule: 15 hours per month; 3x a week for 1hr15mins
• Rate is between $25 and $35 per hour

Ideal Candidate:

• Experience tutoring high school students, particularly students with Autism or IEPs
• Strong background in high school English, literature, reading comprehension, and writing
• Comfortable supporting World History and social studies coursework
• Strong understanding of Algebra 2 and foundational high school math concepts
• Skilled at breaking down complex academic material into clear, manageable steps
• Able to support comprehension, information retention, and application across multiple content areas
• Patient, organized, and encouraging with a structured approach to instruction
• Strong lesson-planning and academic support skills
• Able to adapt instruction to the student's current coursework and individual learning needs
• Comfortable providing homework, assignment, and test preparation support
• Able to incorporate student interests, such as music and guitar, to increase engagement

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized academic support across ELA, World History, and Algebra 2
• Support reading fluency, comprehension, vocabulary development, and analysis of literature and informational texts
• Help the student identify key information, make connections, retain content, and apply what they have learned
• Provide writing support focused on organization, grammar, language conventions, and written expression
• Reinforce World History concepts and support comprehension and retention of historical content
• Provide Algebra 2 instruction, including foundational skills, mathematical reasoning, problem-solving, and course-specific concepts
• Break down complex assignments and multi-step problems into manageable steps
• Provide guided practice and reinforcement aligned with the student's current coursework
• Assist with homework, projects, quizzes, tests, and other academic assignments as needed
• Use structured instruction, repetition, and comprehension checks to strengthen retention
• Incorporate interests such as music, guitar, Metallica, and Slayer into lessons when appropriate
• Monitor progress and adjust instruction to address academic gaps and support continued success
• Maintain a supportive and encouraging learning environment focused on academic confidence and independence
