Purpose: 
The role of Hips Training Manager, Commercial Education, Joint Reconstruction and VELYS Hip Navigation is responsible for the planning, delivery, and execution of training for the sales organization aligned to the global learning strategy and in support of the US region’s business needs.

This role will be primarily focused on Hip surgeries and product lines and will work with Global Education, Regional Marketing, Sales Leadership, Healthcare Compliance and other functional partners to shape and deliver educational programs aimed at elevating the competency of the sales organization aligned with the company curricula, certification pathways, policies and strategies.

Key responsibilities:
  • Manages daily business-focused training activities for the Commercial Education Hips and VHN.This includes but is not limited to administrative activities, communications,  development and execution of curricula and courses and administration of Commercial Education policies and guidelines, all aligned with the MedTech Education strategy.
  • Liaises with senior management to obtain resources for supporting needs and requirements for Joint Reconstruction and VELYS Enabling Tech strategic initiatives.
  • Accountable for ongoing related asset management tracking and reporting
  • Accountable for ongoing training needs assessment of customer-facing field sales teams related to organizational imperatives by performing analysis on current and historical sales activities, and enterprise engagement.
  • Delivers the most effective educational programs to satisfy the overall objectives of the Joint Reconstruction and VELYS Enabling Tech organization.
  • Develops and executes Commercial Education strategies in partnership with internal functional partners and Commercial Development cohorts to address all ongoing training and development of sales consultants with emphasis on technical training, clinical selling, operations, job related technical proficiency, strategic account management, and enterprise and market effectiveness.
  • Keeps expertise updated in training and related clinical and business technologies and methodologies. Identifies market and organizational trends and recommends appropriate actions to management.
  • Ensures that sales training practices are in compliance with all government and legal requirements.
  • Accountable for the Design and deliver effective educational programs aligned to our learning strategies including the use of a 30-40-30 format.
  • Educates sales consultants across the entire portfolio to build clinical and non-clinical proficiency with emphasis on technical training, clinical selling, operations, strategic account management and enterprise market effectiveness.
  • Conducts and reports on follow-up of training programs, updates ongoing programs utilizing MedTech Education analytics methodologies and update programs as needed.
  • Facilitates virtual/live training classes as needed to build clinical and non-clinical proficiency of sales/clinical team across the entire portfolio.
  • Works with strategic vendors and acts as subject matter expert for training development.
  • Leverages technology platforms to help facilitate education.
  • Apply adult learning principles and professional facilitation skills in all learning programs.
  • Facilitates learning in live, virtual and self-guided formats aligned with our learning strategies.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for training development with strategic partners and vendors.
  • Maintains expertise in training and related clinical and business technologies and methodologies.
  • Develop and deliver post course assessments in various formats that align with the training content. 

Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5 years of medical device experience
  • Strong clinical expertise or orthopedic/medical device training experience specific in Hips Arthroplasty.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability, ability to self-direct and self-govern
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills that include professionalism, maturity and team mentality

Preferred:
  • Experience with hip arthroplasty and/or reconstructive joint replacement surgery and revision.
  • 3-7+ years of experience in medical device sales, clinical education, or sales training, particularly in orthopaedics
  • Strong understanding of hip anatomy, biomechanics, and pathology.
  • Familiarity with hip arthroplasty procedures, surgical techniques, and instrumentation.
  • Experience with orthopaedics implant products, including the EMPHASYS™, KINCISE™, ACTIS™ and CORAIL™
  • Expertise in DPS product platform and sales business practices
  • Experience as an orthopedic/medical device trainer
  • Experience designing, creating and delivering educational content for virtual, classroom, in-person internal and field-based audiences.
  • Experience in technology assisted surgery and/or capital equipment
  • Understanding selling strategies
  • Experience working in additional commercial functions (field, marketing, etc.)
  • Familiarity and training experience with preoperative templating software and 3D planning platforms for accurate implant selection and positioning
  • The ability to collaborate with surgeon faculty to develop and deliver high-quality educational programing.
  • Ability to process complex situration with opporsing inputs and decide the best path forward.
  • Strong ability to build relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and align training programs with best practices and evolving clinical techniques.

Other:
  • Office work requires sitting, walking, using phone and computer and surgical instrumentation demonstrating surgical workflow, work in the presence of fluoroscopy.
  • May lift up to 30 lbs. occasionally.
  • Work Environment: Office, classroom, laboratory and surgical facilities.
  • Working Hours:  daily Monday – Friday and occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Travel Requirements: Overnight travel may be required up to 50%.
