University of Dayton is hiring a Holistic Academic Advisor. This role involves providing mission-centric academic advising to undergraduate students, supporting their educational paths, retention, and whole-person success by collaborating with faculty, staff, and student support networks.
Highlights
Provide academic advising on course scheduling, graduation requirements, and major/minor selection for undergraduates.
Support student transitions between academic units and promote vocational, experiential, and co-curricular opportunities.
Teach introductory university courses and participate in new student orientation and family programs.
Utilize advising tools like Student Success Network to monitor student progress and manage interventions.
Maintain confidentiality and collaborate with campus colleagues and student support networks called Flight Crews.
Required skills include interpersonal communication, discretion, collaboration, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
Minimum qualification: Bachelor's degree and experience supporting student success.
Preferred qualifications: Master's degree, at least 1 year working with college-aged students, familiarity with Starfish by EAB/Hobson, Banner, DegreeWorks, and academic advising best practices.
