Hourly - Coordinator, Career Center Full Description

Overview: 
The Coordinator will support students in Perkins-funded AAS and AS programs by building strong employer partnerships and expanding internship and job opportunities. They will provide one-on-one career support to students, including resume reviews and job search assistance, and deliver targeted workshops both in-class and through employer events. Working closely with faculty, the Coordinator will develop programming tailored specific to Perkins programs and ensure students are informed and prepared for available opportunities. 

Responsibilities: 
  • Seek out, develop, and maintain relationships with employers that provide internships and job opportunities for students in Perkins programs.
  • Assist students with job search strategies and career preparation skills, such as resume writing and interviewing skills.
  • Assist with the maintenance of Handshake/career database.
  • Proactively search for job openings with local employers and promote open positions.
  • Provide in-class workshops and assist in developing additional workshops/employer information sessions related to Perkins Programs.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
 
Qualifications: 
Minimum Qualifications: 
 
Education: 
  • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent.
 
Experience:
  • 2 years of experience in career services or related field
 
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong organization and interpersonal networking skills with experience in building business and community relationships.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Strong grammar and writing abilities.
  • Must be computer literate with ability to utilize Microsoft Office at an intermediate level and the ability to learn and utilize specific higher education programs and systems.
  • Ability to learn and apply office practices, procedures, policies, and regulations that are essential to the position.
  • Ability to travel within the county and state.
 
Preferred Qualifications & Special Considerations: 
  • Knowledge of Monmouth County and its communities. 
  • Occasional evening and weekend work and local travel maybe required.
