Job Summary | The Human Resources Department at the University of Utah is looking for a student to assist in talent acquisition and employment efforts here at the U through fall and spring semester with the opportunity to stay on for the summer. This student will work a hybrid schedule both remote and in-person from the Downtown HR Office (250 E. 200 S.) to help a busy talent acquisition team respond to job seeker and hiring manager inquiries, track and post external job advertisements and attend outreach events.
Duties include providing clerical and administrative support to the human resources staff. Answering phones, filing, organizing resumes and job applications, preparing presentation materials for training activities, conducting basic compensation research, or answering routine questions on human resources policies and procedures. May identify potential issues for further investigation by an HR Representative.
The ideal candidate should have the ability to work independently, possess a positive attitude, strong attention to detail and an interest in helping job seekers navigate our system. The ability to work effectively and harmoniously with a wide range of stakeholders in a caring and professional manner is essential.
Responsibilities | Answers questions via email, on the phone or in person related to the job application process. Assist in recruitment related activity such as attending job fairs or training for hiring departments, job seekers and community members. Supports team in reviewing and updating web materials related to recruitment marketing and the hiring process. Reviews and verifies applicants request for veterans’ preference in the hiring process. Performs periodic auditing and archiving duties. Consistently provides excellent customer service Works with accuracy, detail, and maintains confidentiality with high level of integrity Assists in special projects throughout the Human Resources department as needed

Minimum Qualifications |
HR Assistant, I: Requires little to no related experience.
Preferences | Background in customer service, data entry and/or familiarity with excel preferred.
Bilingual preferred.
Ability to to work on site at least one day per week (Mondays)
Ability to work through Spring Semester (May 2026)
