About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced and highly proactive HR & People Operations Manager to own and build our people function from the ground up.

This is a high-impact, high-ownership role within a growing startup (20–25 team members), where you’ll operate as both a hands-on executor and a strategic partner to leadership. You will be responsible for everything from day-to-day HR operations (payroll, contracts, recruitment, employee support) to designing and implementing scalable systems, people strategies, and a strong company culture.

We care deeply about building a human-centered workplace where people feel supported, empowered, and connected to meaningful work. We’re looking for someone who can help preserve and strengthen that culture as we scale, balancing operational excellence with empathy, trust, and genuine care for people.

If you’re someone who enjoys creating structure out of ambiguity, building systems from scratch, and shaping how a company grows through its people, this role is for you!

Recruitment & Talent Strategy
  • Own the full recruitment lifecycle across roles (primarily full-time hires)
  • Partner with leadership to define hiring needs and workforce planning
  • Develop structured hiring processes, templates, and improve candidate experience
  • Build talent pipelines to support ongoing and future hiring needs

Performance Management & Development
  • Design and implement performance review systems from the ground up
  • Introduce goal-setting frameworks (OKRs, KPIs, or similar)
  • Support managers in performance conversations, feedback, and growth planning
  • Identify development opportunities and support employee upskilling initiatives

Employee Experience, Engagement & Culture
  • Lead and shape a strong, intentional company culture as the team grows
  • Design and implement employee engagement initiatives, surveys, and feedback loops
  • Actively identify opportunities to improve morale, retention, and team dynamics

  • Support leadership in fostering a transparent, inclusive, and high-performing environment
  • Foster accountability, ownership, and a feedback-driven culture

Strategic HR & Business Partnering

  • Contribute to strategic planning, internal process improvement, and organizational effectiveness initiatives
  • Collaborate across teams on special projects, events, partnerships, or operational priorities as needed
  • Support internal coordination related to funding initiatives, reporting, workforce planning, or program operations when relevant

What We’re Looking For
  • 5+ years of experience in HR, People Operations, or a similar role
  • Strong experience across both operational HR and strategic initiatives
  • Proven ability to build and implement systems and processes from scratch
