IDEA Special Education Local and State Testing Coordinator Full Description

The Special Education Local & State Testing Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all special education-related local and state assessment processes to ensure compliance with federal, state, district, and testing program requirements. This role serves as the primary point of contact for special education testing accommodations, assessment participation decisions, testing escalations, and specialized testing supports, collaborating closely with Special Education Compliance staff, campus administrators, counselors, data teams, testing personnel, and families to ensure students with disabilities receive appropriate testing accommodations and equitable access to assessments while maintaining testing integrity and compliance.

Essential Functions:

Serve as the primary point of contact for all special education state and district-wide testing accommodations
Manage and monitor testing accommodations for district assessments, TELPAS, STAAR, EOCs, and other state-required assessments
Address and resolve escalations related to testing accommodations from parents, administrators, teachers, and testing personnel
Support the Special Education Compliance Team with complex ARD committee decisions and unique accommodation needs
Review all supplemental aids and accommodations for compliance with Texas Education Agency (TEA) guidelines
Conduct routine audits of special education testing data and records, and maintain accommodation tracking and reporting systems (Frontline, TestHound)
Coordinate specialized testing supports, including printed materials, assistive technology, and CPI-trained support staff
Serve as the primary liaison between families, school personnel, and testing teams regarding special education testing matters

Minimum Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, Educational Leadership, Counseling, or a related field
Three years of experience in special education services, compliance, assessment coordination, or related educational roles
Valid Special Education Texas Teaching Certificate or comparable state educator certification
Working knowledge of federal and state special education laws, TEA assessment policies, and ARD/IEP processes
Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel) proficiency; ability to travel 25% of the time

This is a virtual/remote position with Texas residency strongly preferred; residents of states contiguous to Texas may also be considered.
