Job Summary
The University of Utah’s Center for High Performance Computing (CHPC) seeks a Compliance Analyst to support cybersecurity and regulatory compliance for research projects involving regulated data. This role coordinates with institutional offices (ISO, IRB, Privacy Office, GRC) and research teams to ensure secure and compliant operations across CHPC systems. This role is part of a small, embedded security & compliance team with ample opportunities for cross training and skill growth.
Responsibilities
  • Deploy and manage security technologies such as endpoint protection, SIEM, and vulnerability scanners.
  • Implement security controls aligned with NIST SP 800-171 Rev. 3 and CMMC requirements.
  • Monitor system configurations and patch management to reduce vulnerabilities.
  • Support incident response activities and forensic investigations.
  • Collaborate with HPC engineers to integrate security into system design and operations.
  • Maintain documentation for security configurations, procedures, and compliance evidence.
  • Participate in risk assessments and remediation planning.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) and 3-5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Experience with Linux- and Windows-based systems
  • Experience with enterprise security tools.
  • Familiarity with NIST SP 800-171 and other federal cybersecurity frameworks.
  • Strong troubleshooting and scripting skills (e.g., Bash, Python).
  • Excellent analytic and communication skills.
