UAIR is seeking an experienced AWS cloud architect to oversee the aggressive modernization of the university’s data infrastructure. In this role you will lead the strategic execution of moving our data infrastructure from an on-premise Oracle warehouse to a modern, secure, and scalable AWS cloud environment. This role offers the unique opportunity to build a cloud foundation from the ground up and support the university in moving into a forward-looking AWS architecture.Like many areas at the University of Utah, our office is a hybrid work environment and requires residence in the state of Utah with the ability to work from campus 3 days per week. More details can be discussed in an interview. Our office is not currently able to support individuals seeking sponsorship for visa—living in and working from the Utah is a requirement.

Job Responsibilities: Lead the design, build, test and deployment of cloud architecture in AWS to support UAIR operations. Serve as the cloud architect subject-matter expert for UAIROversee the configuration and management of UAIR VPC and other networking configurations in AWS. Collaborate with the data management team ETL to deploy AWS ETL services such as Glue, AirFlow, Step functions, Lamda etc. Manage infrastructure for an on-premises Tableau Server – connecting to AWS data. Work closely with UIT to establish and maintain a secure platform. Configure and deploy AWS IAM roles and polices to enable secure access. Oversee the enablement and support of UAIR operations in AWS SageMaker Unified Studio. Ensure redundancy and backup for all services. Use prior knowledge and creativity to troubleshoot and solve technical issues as they arise. Keep up to date with developments on current cloud computing solutions and processes.

Manager, Information Systems Architecture Management: Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 6 years or a master’s (or equivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience.
Senior Manager, Information Systems Architecture Management: Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 8 years or a master’s (or equivalency) + 6 years of directly related work experience.
Associate Director, Information Systems Architecture Management: Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 10 years or a master’s (or equivalency) + 8 years of directly related work experience.

Preferences | AWS Certified Solutions Architect Proven track record of successfully migrating large-scale, on-premise relational databases to AWSExperience and acumen to move complex data transformation projects forward under minimal supervision. Experience in a higher education setting Experience with PeopleSoft data, Tableau, Lucid Chart, and/or similar ERP systems, visualization and diagramming tools.
