Inside Account Manager

About the Role
As an Inside Account Manager, you will manage a portfolio of academic and government accounts, driving customer engagement, renewals, and revenue growth across Elsevier's portfolio of research solutions. Working closely with customers and internal stakeholders, you will identify opportunities, deliver value-driven solutions, and support institutional research, teaching, and learning objectives while contributing to long-term business growth.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a defined territory of existing and prospective customer accounts, developing long-term relationships with key decision makers.
  • Conduct inbound and outbound sales activities through phone, email, virtual meetings, and digital engagement to generate pipeline, renew subscriptions, and close new business opportunities.
  • Identify customer needs and recommend Elsevier solutions that align with institutional goals and research priorities.
  • Prepare and deliver product presentations, pricing proposals, and renewal strategies while negotiating terms within established guidelines.
  • Manage the complete sales cycle, including opportunity qualification, forecasting, proposal development, contract execution, and post-sale follow-up.
  • Collaborate with field account managers, product specialists, customer consultants, and marketing teams to execute account strategies and maximize customer value.
  • Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and customer feedback to identify new business opportunities and support strategic account planning.
  • Meet or exceed assigned revenue, renewal, and growth targets while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.

Requirements
  • Experience in inside sales, account management, customer success, or consultative B2B sales.
  • Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple opportunities and prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced sales environment.
  • Experience using CRM platforms (Salesforce preferred) and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed sales quotas and performance objectives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret customer needs and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Ability to maintain accurate customer records, opportunity data, and sales activities within CRM systems.

Primary Location Base Pay Range: Home based-Ohio $56,600 - $94,400. Total Target Cash Range: $87,000 - $145,100.Pay mix between base and variable pay varies based on sales role; please discuss with the recruiter.
