Position Summary
The Institutional Analyst will utilize available data sources to conduct various research and analysis projects in support of New York University's mission; provide information retrieval support for university leadership, staff, and external entities using verified data sources and definitions. Utilize technical skills to retrieve, analyze, and present data, and communication skills to develop reports and presentations. Analyze various data sets -- including admissions, instruction, enrollment, employment, advising and post career placement -- by collaborating with University stakeholders to design and provide decision support for initiatives in support of NYU’s mission. Provide new and routine analysis of both data and operations to ensure strategic goals are being met.
Qualifications
Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree in a field that included quantitative research methods.
Preferred Education:
Bachelor's Degree or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Psychology, Sociology, Education, Business, or a related field.
Required Experience:
1+ years experience with data collection, retrieval, analysis, and reporting in an applied context. Experience using business intelligence tools (Tableau or equivalent).
Preferred Experience:
2+ years experience with data analysis/ modeling in a higher education setting. Experience using ERPs or student information systems (PeopleSoft Campus Solutions or equivalent). Experience with database retrieval (e.g. using SQL with Oracle or MSSQL reporting environments).
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent analytical and written/verbal communication skills. Excellent listening and observation skills. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem solving skills. Ability and willingness to quickly learn new systems and software. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities under hard deadlines while maintaining a high level of professionalism and exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Advanced knowledge of databases and data management with proficiency in ad hoc reporting/query writing and data manipulation (with SQL, Tableau, OBIEE, etc.). Skill with statistical packages (e.g. R or SPSS). Ability to interact with all levels of personnel, students, faculty, and the public. Ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy when dealing with difficult issues and/or diverse organizations. Ability to evaluate and implement technological improvements to meet best practices. Familiarity with version control.
Additional Information
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $72,000.00 to USD $88,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
