Instructional Design and Technology (IDT) Manager Description
South College is seeking a detail-oriented and efficient IDT Manager to support the Instructional Design and Technology (IDT) team. This role helps to supervise and support instructional designers, including scheduling, mentoring, performance feedback, and professional development to ensure high-quality output.
The ideal candidate will ensure smooth execution of IDT initiatives and maintain strong cross-departmental communication.
Responsibilities:
- Team Management: Supervise and support instructional designers, including scheduling, mentoring, performance feedback, and professional development to ensure high-quality output.
- Project Coordination: In partnership with IDT Leadership, manage the planning, prioritization, and delivery of instructional design projects to ensure timely completion and alignment with academic goals.
- Collaboration: Provide day-to-day support to instructional designers and faculty throughout the course design process, ensuring clear communication, efficient workflow, and alignment with instructional design best practices.
- Instructional Quality: Promote and support evidence-based design practices, accessibility standards, and the use of instructional technologies to enhance the learning experience.
- Process Improvement: Maintain and refine workflows, templates, and design standards to ensure consistency and efficiency in course production.
- Evaluation and Assessment: Use feedback and analytics to assess course quality, identify improvement areas, and inform future instructional design efforts.
- Innovation Support: Explore and recommend new tools, technologies, and strategies to strengthen teaching and learning.
- Departmental Support: Assist senior leadership in implementing strategic initiatives and departmental projects related to instructional design and technology.
Requirements
Education
- Minimum of a master’s degree in education, instructional design, business, HR or related field.
Experience
- 1 year+ of instructional design management experience
- 3+ years of instructional design experience
- Expertise in instructional design models (ADDIE, SAM, Agile), adult learning theory, and curriculum development within higher education.
- Demonstrated leadership in managing teams and complex projects across multiple stakeholders.
- Advanced proficiency in course design tools (e.g., Storyline, Rise, H5P), video production tools, and collaboration platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Slack).
- Deep understanding of accessibility standards, universal design for learning (UDL), and inclusive andragogical strategies.
- Strong analytical skills with experience using learning analytics and assessment data to inform instructional decisions.
