Instructional Design Specialist

The Instructional Design Specialist supports Highline Warren’s commitment to being the BEST to work for by designing effective training programs for our employees and the BEST to buy from by ensuring our teams have the skills necessary to exceed customer expectations. This role is responsible for implementing training and development programs for the organization across corporate, distribution, manufacturing, and sales functions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to analyze, design, and develop training materials that meet learning objectives and support organizational goals
- Design and develop e-learning courses, instructor-led training programs, and other instructional materials
- Create visual aids, multimedia development, and video production/editing.
- Conduct needs assessments and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs
- Apply adult learning principles to design engaging, interactive, and effective training materials
- Use e-learning authoring tools to create engaging and interactive e-learning courses
- Apply learning theories and instructional design models to develop and implement effective training programs
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize workload to meet deadlines
- Participate in the evaluation of new technologies and tools to enhance instructional design and delivery
- Maintain and update existing training materials to ensure accuracy and relevance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including human resources, information technology, operations, and other stakeholders
- Provide guidance and support to training specialists
- Expected travel is 25% (minimum).
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
The individual may be asked to perform other duties as requested.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Bachelor's degree in instructional design, educational technology, or a related field
- 3-5 years of experience in instructional design
- Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design best practices
- Experience with e-learning authoring tools - Articulate preferred
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (including Illustrator and Photoshop) and SnagIt
- Experience with audio, image, and video development/editing tools such Adobe Premier Pro and After Effects, or TechSmith’s Audiate, Camtasia, and SnagIt
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
