Instructional Design Specialist

DonorConnect is seeking a full-time Instructional Design Specialist. The Instructional Design Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality learning solutions that support the clinical and operational training needs of DonorConnect. This role collaborates closely with members of Learning and Organizational Development (LOD), Quality Services, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and departmental leadership to translate complex operational processes into engaging and effective learning experiences.

The Instructional Design Specialist applies adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, and technology-enabled learning strategies to improve knowledge retention, learner engagement, and performance outcomes. This role supports both clinical and business operations in alignment with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and continuous improvement initiatives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Training/Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Organizational Development, Healthcare Education, or related field preferred, and/or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Certification in instructional design, talent development, or adult learning preferred (CPTD, APTD, ATD, or similar). Will obtain certification within first year of employment.
  • Completes relevant continuing education courses approved by departmental leadership
  • Healthcare or clinical education experience preferred

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of two years' experience designing and developing instructional materials, e-learning content, or curriculum programs
  • Experience working with Subject Matter Experts to develop technical or clinical training content preferred
  • Experience supporting learning initiatives within healthcare, clinical, or operational environments preferred
  • Experience with instructional design models such as ADDIE or similar learning frameworks required

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design methodologies
  • Strong written communication and content development skills
  • Ability to translate complex operational information into clear and engaging learning materials
  • Strong collaboration skills when working with SMEs, leadership, and training staff
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines while maintaining attention to detail
  • Knowledge of multimedia learning development tools and learning technologies preferred
  • Ability to analyze learner feedback and incorporate improvements into training design
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and comply with PHI and data integrity standards
  • Knowledge of computer hardware, software, organ and tissue transplant fields, critical care, OR environment, and medical terminology preferred
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to move up to 70 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to stoop, squat, or bend frequently
  • Knowledge regarding hazards of clinical setting safety elements, including communicable disease, bloodborne pathogens, and other common hazards of a clinical setting.
