Job Description:
We're looking for a hands-on and resourceful Instructional Design Specialist (also known as an LMS Content Administrator, LMS Specialist, Learning Systems Administrator, Learning Experience Specialist, Learning and Development Coordinator, Instructional Support Specialist, or eLearning Support Specialist) to support our Instructional Systems Designer and Multimedia Curriculum Designer in delivering great learning experiences. This role is perfect for candidates with some digital learning background who are comfortable managing moving parts, suggesting improvements, and taking the initiative when it comes to shaping our curriculum design, development, and implementation.
In this job, you'll take ownership of transforming both classroom and virtual training materials into top-notch courseware. You’ll handle everything from mapping out instructional flows, setting up content and assessments in the LMS, and making process tweaks that help our team work smarter, not just harder. You'll bridge the gap between instructional strategy and multimedia, always looking for ways to make our content more effective and our processes smoother.
On a day-to-day basis, you'll be building out learning modules, writing scripts and quizzes, managing how courses are set up in the LMS, and exploring better ways for learners to access and use our content. You'll dig into workflow improvements, help launch new courses, solve problems as they arise, and serve as a go-to resource for digital learning and technology.
Your expertise in instructional strategy, course design, and digital tools will help our team deliver polished, user-focused training for audiences in tech, government ( Special Operations Forces Tactical Communications Systems), SaaS, and enterprise environments. You'll work closely with instructional designers, media specialists, subject matter experts, and engineers to create and deliver training that really makes an impact.
Responsibilities:
You’re a perfect match if you:
- Manage, organize, and update course modules, user enrollments, and learning resources within an LMS, ensuring content accuracy and compliance with publishing standards (SCORM/xAPI)
- Assist the Instructional Systems Designer with needs analysis and alignment of learning objectives to instructional strategies
- Support the design and sequencing of eLearning courseware, storyboards, instructor guides, and assessment materials, paying special attention to how these are delivered and experienced in the learning environment
- Translate raw content and SME input into clear outlines, scripts, and instructional materials ready for multimedia development
- Coordinate closely with the Multimedia Curriculum Designer to prepare visual and interactive elements—such as infographics, engaging learning activities, and video scripts—ensuring consistency, accessibility, and instructional value
- Maintain project schedules, manage documents and course data, monitor LMS usage reports, and track revision cycles so the team consistently delivers on milestone commitments
You get bonus points if you:
- Conduct usability testing, peer review, and ongoing quality assurance for digital learning solutions, ensuring all deliverables are accessible, function properly in the LMS, and meet instructional design best practices
- Troubleshoot and resolve LMS or eLearning system issues related to content launch, learner access, or reporting
- Monitor and report on learner analytics, course engagement, completion data, and feedback using LMS dashboards and analytic tools to drive continuous improvement
- Serve as a point of contact between designers, SMEs, QA specialists, and technical support, to quickly resolve content, configuration, or deployment issues and ensure a positive learning experience
- Understand accessibility standards (e.g., Section 508, WCAG) and quality assurance practices in digital content
We know you have what it takes if you have:
- A strong understanding of instructional design concepts, adult learning theories, and their application in LMS or eLearning environments
- Superb organizational, documentation, and database management skills supporting complex, multi-format curriculum development and LMS content administration
- Experience translating SME, technical, or raw content into accessible, well-structured instructional materials and uploading them into learning platforms
- Expert level knowledge of digital learning platforms (like Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard, or similar), multimedia collaboration, and basic troubleshooting or support for eLearning users
- Working knowledge of course permissions, group management, and accessibility considerations in online learning
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and customer service skills for supporting diverse teams and end users
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Learning Technologies, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Demonstrable experience with instructional design methodologies (ADDIE, SAM)
- Excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills for developing and reviewing learning content
- Familiarity with basic multimedia production (scripting, storyboarding, coordinating media assets)
- Ability to interpret feedback and make rapid, high-quality revisions
- Effective communicator and collaborator in a multidisciplinary, deadline-driven environment
- Comfortable with written communication and documentation
- Self-starter with the ability to dive in with minimal direction
- Flexible, with experience working in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with tools such as Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, and LMS platforms.
- Must obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance
- Must be a US citizen
