Instructional Designer

Description
  
The Instructional Designer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining engaging learning programs that support employee onboarding, professional development, and organizational initiatives across the company. This role is highly focused on Clinical Operations, partnering closely with clinical leadership to develop standardized training that supports patient care, operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and consistent clinical workflows across the organization.
The Instructional Designer manages the full instructional design lifecycle—from needs assessment through content creation, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement—to ensure employees have the knowledge and skills needed to succeed.

Working closely with Human Resources, Clinical Operations, Operations, and department leaders, the Instructional Designer creates standardized learning experiences for new hires and existing employees, develops role-specific training for healthcare positions, and supports organizational growth through effective learning and development strategies.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain instructor-led, virtual, self-paced, and blended learning programs for clinical, operational, and corporate employees. 
  • Serve as the primary learning and development partner for Clinical Operations, ensuring training aligns with organizational clinical standards and operational goals. 
  • Develop and maintain clinical education programs, workflows, competency assessments, and operational training for providers and clinical support staff. 
  • Partner with Clinical Operations leadership to identify training gaps and implement learning solutions that improve quality, compliance, and patient outcomes.
  • Manage the end-to-end instructional design process, including needs assessments, curriculum design, content development, implementation, and evaluation. 
  • Create engaging learning materials including presentations, eLearning modules, videos, job aids, standard operating procedures (SOPs), quick reference guides, competency assessments, and facilitator guides. 
  • Develop and maintain onboarding programs for all new hires, ensuring a consistent and engaging employee experience. 
  • Partner with department leaders and subject matter experts to design role-specific training for healthcare and corporate positions. 
  • Standardize training content and learning pathways across newly acquired practices and business units. 
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, employee feedback, knowledge checks, and performance metrics, making continuous improvements as needed. 
  • Manage learning content within the organization's Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring materials remain current and accessible. 
  • Ensure all training materials align with company policies, regulatory requirements, healthcare compliance standards, and organizational best practices. 
  • Support organizational initiatives by developing training related to new systems, processes, policies, acquisitions, and strategic projects. 
  • Stay current on instructional design methodologies, adult learning principles, and healthcare industry best practices. 

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Organizational Development, Healthcare Administration, Human Resources, or a related field, or equivalent experience. 
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in instructional design, learning and development, corporate training, or healthcare education. 
  • Experience managing the full instructional design lifecycle from concept through implementation. 
  • Experience developing onboarding programs and role-specific learning curricula. 
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies. 
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, organizational, and project management skills. 
  • Experience creating engaging learning content using Microsoft Office and instructional design tools. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines. 

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in healthcare or other highly regulated industries. 
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and eLearning authoring tools (Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, etc.). 
  • Familiarity with healthcare compliance, HIPAA, CMS regulations, and operational workflows.
