Responsibilities
Allan Myers is looking for an experienced, hard-working team player to join our team of learning professionals. The Instructional Designer is responsible for working with subject matter experts to design, develop, and implement effective learning experiences utilizing innovative solutions that support our company's educational needs. The Instructional Designer will develop curriculum by applying knowledge of adult learning principles and implement techniques for delivering a comprehensive range of training and education programs. The ideal candidate would have 5-10 years of experience, be proficient in necessary tools, and a competent project manager of their own work. This position is also responsible for supporting the Learning and Development team by assisting with other departmental needs, maintaining SharePoint and LMS-based resources. The position will report to the Learning Programs Manager. 
 
Responsibilities: 
  • Research, design and develop training experiences and supporting materials for self-directed, experiential, and formal learning to meet the needs of the business. 
  • Conduct needs assessments for various business units to determine gaps, training objectives, audience needs, and method of delivery. 
  • Translate business unit policies and procedures into effective training materials. 
  • Utilize multimedia technology and authoring tools and explore and evaluate new training technologies. 
  • Assist Subject Matter Experts in the development of new course curriculum. 
  • Proofread and edit own work and the work of others to improve quality, readability, consistency, and effectiveness of learning materials. 
  • Manage course projects from inception to completion and make recommendations for action on activities such as new instructional design technology and approaches. 
  • Ability to work with L&D team in a collaborative environment to problem solve, sometimes within aggressive time frames. 
  • Assist in the review of instructor performance and recommend improvements to program content and/or instructor presentation methods. 
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. 

Qualifications
  • Experience designing and facilitating interactive multimedia learning experiences 
  • Knowledge and application of adult learning principles and techniques 
  • Experience with authoring tools (e.g. PowerPoint, Publisher, Canva, Camtasia, Adobe Creative Suite, Captivate, Articulate, Vyond, WellSaid Labs, etc.) 
  • Bachelor’s degree required; specific training in Instructional Design preferred 
  • Experience in corporate training or educational environment preferred but not required 
  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills 
  • Knowledge and experience in adult learning theory 
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills 
  • Construction industry experience is a plus 

This position will be asked to travel to support off-site events within the corporate footprint a few times a year.
