Our solutions help employers reduce risk, strengthen workplace culture, and navigate complex labor and employment regulations. We operate with the agility and ownership of a product-focused team, backed by the stability and national platform of Fisher Phillips.

Position Summary
We are seeking an innovative and business-focused Instructional Designer to design and deliver purposeful, engaging, and scenario-based learning solutions for compliance, data privacy, and workplace safety training. This role blends strong instructional design fundamentals with modern digital tools—including Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, Absorb Create, and Synthesia AI—to create impactful, scenario-based learning experiences.
The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on: able to identify performance and learning needs and translate business and regulatory requirements into practical, engaging learning strategies using iterative design and development practices, multimedia development, and emerging AI technologies. You will collaborate closely with subject matter experts, attorneys, and cross-functional stakeholders to build scalable, future-ready learning solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop engaging, accessible, and scenario-based e-learning modules for compliance, data privacy, and workplace safety training using Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, Absorb Create, Synthesia AI, and related authoring tools.
- Partner with attorneys and SMEs to translate compliance requirements into clear learning strategies and practical, learner-centered experiences.
- Conduct training needs analyses and recommend appropriate learning interventions based on identified performance needs.
- Develop action maps, task analyses, design strategies, content outlines, scripts, storyboards, and assessments.
- Create multimedia elements including video, AI-generated content, simulations, animations, and interactive activities when they support the learning objectives and learner experience.
- Manage stakeholder review cycles and incorporate attorney, SME, client, and internal feedback throughout development.
- Conduct functional, accessibility, and quality assurance testing to ensure learning solutions work as intended before publication.
- Publish courses in SCORM/AICC/xAPI formats and deploy content within LMS platforms.
- Ensure alignment with corporate branding, accessibility standards, and adult learning best practices.
- Evaluate training effectiveness using data and learner feedback; recommend iterative improvements.
- Maintain and update learning content to reflect business, regulatory, or process changes.
- Support ILT/VILT programs, learning pathways, and blended learning solutions.
- Create supporting visual and learning assets, including thumbnail images, certificates of completion, presentation templates, workbooks, job aids, and other resources that enhance the overall learning experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent professional experience required.
- 4+ years of experience designing corporate learning solutions.
- Strong knowledge of instructional design approaches and practices, such as ADDIE, SAM or other iterative design models, action mapping, and task analysis.
- Experience creating design documentation including design strategies, outlines, scripts, and storyboards.
- Hands-on experience with Articulate Storyline and Articulate Rise required; additional proficiency in other eLearning authoring tools (e.g., Absorb Create, Vyond) a plus.
- Experience producing ILT, VILT, video-based, and blended learning solutions.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud sufficient to edit images in Photoshop, adjust graphics in Illustrator, and perform light video editing in Premiere Pro.
- Experience publishing to LMS platforms and managing SCORM/xAPI content.
- Experience working in iterative development environments and managing multiple stakeholder review cycles.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Portfolio demonstrating instructional design process and completed learning solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Synthesia AI strongly preferred; familiarity with other AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini) integrated into learning design and development workflows a plus.
- Ability to write custom code (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to build advanced interactions within authoring tools is a plus.
- In-depth knowledge of UX design principles and learning experience optimization.
- Experience with gamification strategies and interactive learning technologies.
- Familiarity with data analytics to evaluate learning effectiveness.
- Experience in compliance, HR, or other regulated environments.
Portfolio Submission
Please submit your resume along with a link to your online portfolio or personal website.
Your portfolio should include examples of corporate learning projects such as:
- eLearning modules or interactive demos
- Storyboards or scripting samples
- Scenario-based or case-based learning experiences
- Facilitator materials for ILT or VILT programs
- Examples that demonstrate your instructional design process, not just final visuals
- Any examples of AI-supported learning development, if applicable
