POSITION OVERVIEW
The Instructional Designer creates engaging and effective learning experiences for nurses, supervisors, clients, and administrative staff. This role designs, develops, and maintains both instructor-led and self-paced curriculum, job aids, and other learning tools.
The Instructional Designer applies expertise in instructional technologies and adult learning principles and transforms learning needs into well-structured educational solutions - from requirements and storyboarding to design, deployment, and evaluation. This role supports the ongoing management and improvement of our learning management system.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
80% | Learning Design & Development
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to design and develop instructional materials in multiple modalities.
- Analyze existing instructional resources and make recommendations for improvement, considering learning methodologies and adult learning principles.
- Design and deliver interactive eLearning modules that include animations, branching scenarios, and interactive elements to support learning.
- Evaluate learning, identify gaps, and determine the best solutions.
- Study and prepare recommendations on instructional materials in a consultative role.
- Use AI tools to support instructional design tasks.
- Manage online client education documents, such as visit-to-visit guidelines, so content is interactive, engaging, and presented successfully in Spanish.
- Create instructional language for clarity, including chunking, sequencing, and flow to support learning.
- Promote interactive learning methodologies.
- Stay current with emerging technologies to support the development and delivery of learning content.
- Gather and incorporate feedback from stakeholders and subject matter experts, focus on the target audience, write training objectives, and meet those objectives.
- Demonstrate strong writing skills, including the ability to adapt content to the learning situation and audience.
- Write educational scripts, and record and edit video for use in education.
- Record and edit audio narration for eLearning modules, podcasts, and other voice-over
needs.
- Create original instructional graphics, charts, and illustrations to convey information clearly.
20% | Project Coordination
- Lead instructional design projects, including planning tasks and coordinating with subject matter experts.
- Lead several projects simultaneously, coordinating tasks and milestones from start to finish.
- Maintain organized project files and documentation.
- Collaborate with workgroups or committees across the Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) program and other teams within Changent.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree or certificate in Instructional Design, Education, or a related field; or
equivalent professional experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in instructional design.
- At least 2 years of experience with Articulate Storyline and Articulate Rise.
- At least 2 years of experience with eLearning tools, such as Articulate Storyline, Rise, Snagit, or Camtasia, and Microsoft Office.
- At least 1 year of experience with scholarly writing.
- Experience with learning management systems is preferred.
- Experience using AI tools is preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; experience with APA format is a plus.
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time, as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position reports to the Senior Manager, Nursing Education and has no direct reports.
