Description
A.T. Still University's Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health (ATSU-ASDOH) is seeking a full-time exempt Instructional Designer on the Mesa, Arizona campus. The Instructional Designer for clinical applications is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing innovative educational programs that support the adoption and effective use of clinical application systems and technology. This role will utilize instructional design methodologies to train faculty, students, and staff, while also assisting with business process improvements, technical administration, and IT troubleshooting in the clinical setting.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership and support in instructional design, course and module development, and assessment methods for faculty and administration.
  • Support and train faculty, students, and staff in integrating educational technology and best practices, focusing on clinical system applications and workflows.
  • Develop, design, and implement instructional materials, including online modules (e-learning), hybrid programs, print materials, and video/multimedia resources.
  • Manage the development, scheduling, and updating of all course and module materials, ensuring alignment with educational goals and clinical standards.
  • Serve as the technical resource responsible for administering, managing, and supporting Axium, clinical grading systems, and communication tools.
  • Analyze and document existing processes and recommend improvements through the application of clinical software and technology.
  • Investigate issues and problem areas, assist with IT troubleshooting triage for the clinic, and test existing processes with new system versions.
  • Oversee technical issues related to specialized equipment and software, such as 3D digital dentistry tools, including license management and maintenance.
  • Develop and implement data analytics systems to inform faculty on student progress toward patient care and educational objectives.
  • Research emerging technology and educational methodologies
  • Assist faculty in the application and integration of best practices for online, hybrid, classroom, and clinical programs. Assess the effectiveness of integrating these strategies.
  • Provide instructional design and brainstorm creative and innovative instructional design strategies. 
  • Collaborate with faculty to ensure effective assessment approaches to validate credentialing and competency.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with administrators, faculty, staff, and students.
  • Coach and mentor educational specialists and other related staff.

Requirements
Education & Experience:
  • Four-year college Degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or related field.
  • 2-3 years of related experience.
  • Excellent organizational, writing, presentation, and communication skills.
  • IT/Computer skills – proficient in MS Office, Google Suite, LMS platforms (e.g.: Canvas), and other educational software platforms (e.g.: Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline, Camtasia), and video and graphic editing software.
  • Web and mobile technology skills such as HTML5, XTML, and CSS are desirable.
  • Faculty training skills. 
  • Independent thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to de-escalate in a conflict or confrontation.
  • Mature and professional people skills to work effectively with students, faculty.
  • Self-directed, takes initiative, diplomatic, discerning, calm and not prone to panic, motivated, multitasking, professional, humble, detail-oriented, being a part of the solution to a problem, tolerant, flexible, sees and understands the big picture.
  • Must have adequate self-assessment skills and a knowledge of higher education. Able to work effectively and without much direction with many administrators, staff, and faculty.
